Motorsport is a popular sport in the United Kingdom (possibly the second in popularity in the country, after the Association football, football). The United Kingdom is a key player in the world of motorsport, hosting rounds of Formula One and MotoGP amongst others. It is also the home of many of the current teams in Formula One, such as McLaren, WilliamsF1, Williams, Aston Martin in Formula One, Aston Martin, Red Bull Racing, Mercedes-Benz in Formula One, Mercedes, Alpine in Formula One, Alpine and Haas F1 Team, Haas. There is also a range of popular national series held, such as the British Touring Car Championship and the British GT Championship amongst others. Formula One (F1) is the highest class of worldwide racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the world's premier forms of motorsport since its inaugural running in 1950 and is often considered to be the pinnacle of motorsport. Williams Racing, legally known as Williams Grand Prix Engineering Limited and competing as Atlassian Williams Racing, is a British Formula One team and constructor. It was founded by Frank Williams (1942–2021) and Patrick Head.
