Motorola V120
The Motorola V120, marketed and stylized as Motorola V.series 120, is a candybar-style cell phone released by Motorola in 2001. It was released in two variants: a CDMA one (v120c) and a TDMA one (v120t). The latter has a fixed antenna whereas the v120c has an extendable one. It was mainly used with Verizon and Alltel networks, and included a number of simple features. It was also released in Canada. The model exists in black and in silver, but there were other plastic covers from third party manufacturers. It was very similar to the Motorola v60, but it had only one screen and it was a candybar format phone instead of a clamshell. A big criticism was the unreliable software that the phone had, with several bugs. Motorola
Motorola, Inc. () was an American multinational telecommunications company based in Schaumburg, Illinois. It was founded by brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin in 1928 and had been named Motorola since 1947. Many of Motorola's products had been radio-related communication equipment such as two-way radios, consumer walkie-talkies, cellular infrastructure, mobile phones, satellite communicators, pagers, as well as cable modems and semiconductors. CDMA
Code-division multiple access (CDMA) is a channel access method used by various radio communication technologies. CDMA is an example of multiple access, where several transmitters can send information simultaneously over a single communication channel. This allows several users to share a band of frequencies (see bandwidth). To permit this without undue interference between the users, CDMA employs spread spectrum technology and a special coding scheme (where each transmitter is assigned a code). CDMA optimizes the use of available bandwidth as it transmits over the entire frequency range and does not limit the user's frequency range. Digital AMPS (D-AMPS), most often referred to as TDMA, is a second-generation ( 2G) cellular phone system that was once prevalent throughout the Americas, particularly in the United States and Canada since the first commercial network was deployed in 1993. Former large D-AMPS networks included those of AT&T and Rogers Wireless. The name TDMA is based on the abbreviation for time-division multiple access, a common multiple access technique which is used in most 2G standards, including GSM. D-AMPS competed against GSM and systems based on code-division multiple access (CDMA). It is now considered end-of-life, as existing networks have shut and been replaced by GSM/GPRS or CDMA2000 technologies. Motorola V60 (marketed and stylized as Motorola V. Series 60) is a clamshell mobile phone developed by Motorola. The handset was introduced at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show as the company's flagship and was considered to be the true modern successor of the StarTAC series. It was sold in GSM, CDMA, and TDMA versions. The Motorola V60 featured a sleek, metallic exterior casing that made it very recognizable at the time and was noted for looking luxurious and classy compared to other cell phones of its time. Also present here is a small external display to show the time or caller ID, one of the earliest 'flip phones' to have so. Internally, it included text messaging and wireless Internet capabilities.
