Motordrome Speedway
Motordrome Speedway was a 1/2-mile NASCAR sanctioned racetrack located in South Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, to the northeast of Smithton, Pennsylvania, United States. Weekly series divisions that ran included super late models, modifieds, street stocks, chargers and super compacts. The track operated Friday nights weekly from April to October until closing its doors in 2015. As of March 2016 the track was closed and for sale or lease. The track and buildings are all still on the property, though have become looted and vandalized as often happens with "abandoned" properties with little or no security The original Motordrome was in nearby Ruffs Dale. Smithton is a borough in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 399 at the 2010 census. As of 2018, the population was listed at 378. Smithton has its own post office, with zip code 15479, and is serviced by Yough School District. History Around 1801 a mill, known as Smith's Mill, was built at the location which became Smithton Borough. The town was incorporated as a borough in 1901. Ruffs Dale, Pennsylvania, also spelled Ruffsdale, is an unincorporated community in East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It is located about forty miles from Pittsburgh. The ARCA Menards Series East (formerly Busch East Series, Busch North Series, Camping World East Series, and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) is a regional stock car racing series owned and operated by the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and the NASCAR, National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Races are held at oval tracks ranging from in length and on two road courses, in length. Most races are stand-alone events (i.e. not in conjunction with other NASCAR touring series), but there are three race weekends that are in combination with the NASCAR Cup Series. Dillon W. Bassett (born April 2, 1997) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro for his team, Bassett Racing. Kertus Davis (born February 26, 1981) is a NASCAR driver. He is currently the competition director for JD Motorsports. Prior to NASCAR/USAR Davis began racing in go-karts at the age of eight, competing in his hometown of Gaffney around various tracks. He raced in the karts for a number of years, and finished 3rd in the World Karting Association finals at the age of 17. In 1998, Davis began racing Late Model Stock Cars in various Southeastern tracks, gaining experience and a handful of top-five finishes.
