Motorcycle Ambulance
Motorcycle ambulances are a type of emergency vehicle which either carries a solo paramedic or first responder to a patient; or is used with a trailer or sidecar for transporting patients. Because of its size and performance, a motorcycle ambulance is able to respond to a medical emergency much faster than a car, van, or fire truck in heavy traffic, which can increase survival rates for patients in cardiac arrest. History Motorcycle ambulances were used during World War I by the British, French and Americans. At the time the advantages of light weight, speed, and mobility over larger vehicles was cited as the motive for the use of sidecar rigs in this role. The US version had two stretchers arranged one on top of the other. The French ambulance used a sidecar that held a single patient, who could either lie down or sit up. NUT Motorcycles
NUT Motorcycles was a British motorcycle manufacturer founded in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1912 by Hugh Mason and Jock Hall, who had previously been making motorcycles since 1906 under a badge based on Mason's initials, HM, and later under the name of Jesmond and Bercley. By 1913 their racing motorcycles were competing successfully in the Isle of Man TT races and Hugh Mason's JAP engined NUT motorcycle won the 1913 Junior TT by just 46 seconds. Originally based on JA Prestwich Industries, JAP and Villiers Engineering, Villiers engines, NUT began to build their own V-twin sports machines. Following further racing success Mason and Hall moved to larger premises but the company could not survive the First World War and was declared bankrupt. The business was bought by Robert Ellis who restarted in 1921 as Hugh Mason and Company, but it foundered in 1922. Ambulance Victoria (AV), a Victorian agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, is the statutory provider of pre-hospital emergency care and ambulance services in Victoria. Ambulance Victoria was formed on 1 July 2008 with the merger of the Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS), Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV), and the Alexandra District Ambulance Service (ADAS). Ambulance Victoria has undergone significant reform since 2008. Ambulance Victoria provides emergency medical response to more than 5.9 million people in an area of more than 227,000 square kilometres. During 2015–2016, Ambulance Victoria responded to 843,051 cases. In 2016, it was announced that 450 extra paramedics would be employed.
