Moshe Levy () is an author, and a survivor of the Israeli destroyer "Eilat". Moshe was born in Iraq in 1948. In 1951, he fled as a child with his parents from Iraq in an airlift organised by Israel, where he now lives with his family. At age 18, after graduating high school, he was drafted into the Israeli navy and volunteered to serve aboard destroyer "Eilat". Moshe Levy (; born 1952) is an Israeli paralympic champion. Levy was born in Israel in 1952 and contracted polio as a young baby. In 1962 he began practicing at the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled, focusing on swimming and wheelchair basketball. That same year he attended for the first time the competition for swimming across the Sea of Galilee, in which he later took part for 13 consecutive years. Moshe Levy (; 1927-2015) was an Israeli professor of chemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. Birth and education Moshe Levy was born on December 8, 1927, in Thessaloniki, Greece. In 1933 his father, Eliyahu, decided to immigrate to Palestine, then under British occupation. He grew up in the southern part of Tel-Aviv and attended the Alliance Elementary School and the Balfour High School. After graduating from high school, he went to work as a laboratory assistant at the Zeiff Institute in Rehovot. There, with the help of Chaim Weizmann (later the first president of the State of Israel) he obtained a scholarship to attend the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Shortly after enrolling at the Hebrew University, he was called, as a member of the Haganah, to fight in the 1947–1949 Palestine war in Jerusalem, and only returned to the university in September 1949. Moshe Levy (; born 1946) was a half-track commander in the Israeli Armored Corps and was awarded the Medal of Valor for his fighting in Sinai during the Yom Kippur War. Biography Moshe Levy was born in Tunisia. His brothers and sisters were killed in World War II in a German bombardment, in 1948 he immigrated to Israel with his parents. At first, he grew up in a refugee absorption camp and later in Magdiel. His father died when Moshe was 8 years old. Later, he was educated at the "Neve Amiel" yeshiva high school in Sde Ya'akov and in the Youth Ailyah's "HaShomer" farm in Ilaniya, and later moved from Yavne to Ashdod.
