Moselle Eifel
The Moselle Eifel () forms the southeastern strip of the East Eifel to the left of the Moselle from the city of Trier downstream as far as Moselkern; in the southeast it does not reach as far as the Moselle Valley. It lies exclusively within the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is a truncated highland, roughly half of which is forested. Geography Location The Moselle Eifel runs in a southwest to northeast direction, northwest along the Moselle river, sometimes away from the river, between Trier-Ehrang/Quint, Trier-Ehrang, at the confluence of the Kyll and the Moselle, and Moselkern at the confluence of the Elzbach with the same Rhine tributary. The hills of the Moselle Eifel are lower than those of the adjacent and very ancient Volcanic Eifel to the north and only exceed in a few places, reaching a maximum of at Schafstall near Bremm. Natural Region
A natural region (landscape unit) is a basic geographic unit. Usually, it is a region which is distinguished by its common natural features of geography, geology, and climate. From the ecological point of view, the naturally occurring flora and fauna of the region are likely to be influenced by its geographical and geological factors, such as soil and water availability, in a significant manner. The metre (or meter in US spelling; symbol: m) is the base unit of length in the International System of Units (SI). Since 2019, the metre has been defined as the length of the path travelled by light in vacuum during a time interval of of a second, where the second is defined by a hyperfine transition frequency of caesium. Middle Rhine Basin
The Middle Rhine Basin () is the central landscape region of the Middle Rhine in Germany and, along with the Limburg Basin, forms one of the biggest intra-montane lowland regions within the Rhenish Massif. The basin is divided into the valley bottom of the Neuwied Basin, the Neuwied Basin Perimeter east of the Rhine and the Lower Moselle Valley west of the Rhine in the south, and the Maifeld-Pellenz Hills in the north. The basin is bounded on the east of the Rhine in the northeast and east by the slopes of the Westerwald and, on the west of the Rhine, from north to southwest by the Eifel mountains, and in the southeast by the valley of the Moselle above Moselkern. Eastern High Eifel
The High Eifel ( or ''Hohe Eifel'') forms part of the Eifel Mountains in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The landscape here between Adenau, Mendig and Daun rises to a height of 747 m. The region is not to be confused with the western ''Hocheifel'', better known as the Schnee Eifel. Nürburg Castle and the famous Nürburgring racing track are located in the northwest of the area. Kyllburg Forest Eifel
The Waldeifel or Kyllburger Waldeifel is a landscape region of the South Eifel in Germany along the middle and lower Kyll valley and its immediate surrounding area. The uplands vary in height from 300 to 500 metres above sea level. In the west the Waldeifel borders on the Bitburg Gutland (''Bitburger Gutland''). There the Kyll leaves the Snow Eifel, cutting deeper into the as truncated highland of the Eifel and the foothills of the High Eifel and Volcanic Eifel descend towards the south, the countryside of this Eifel landscape is characterised by extensive woodlands, frequently interrupted by small scale arable fields and pastures. Binsfeld near Wittlich in the Eifel is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
