Ignaz Moscheles
Isaac Ignaz Moscheles (; 23 May 179410 March 1870) was a Bohemian piano virtuoso and composer. He was based initially in London and later at Leipzig, where he joined his friend and sometime pupil Felix Mendelssohn as professor of piano at the Conservatory. Life Early life and career Moscheles was born 1794 in Prague, Bohemia, the son of Klara Popper (Lieben) and Joachim Moises Moscheles. He was from an affluent German-speaking Jewish merchant family. His first name was originally Isaac. His father played the guitar and was keen for one of his children to become a musician. Initially his hopes fixed on Ignaz's sister, but when she demurred, her piano lessons were transferred to her brother. Ignaz developed an early passion for the (then revolutionary) piano music of Beethoven, which the Mozartean Bedřich Diviš Weber, his teacher at the Prague Conservatory, attempted to curb, urging him to focus on Bach, Mozart and Muzio Clementi. Felix Moscheles
Felix Stone Moscheles (8 February 1833 – 22 December 1917) was an English painter, writer, peace activist and advocate of Esperanto. He frequently painted genre scenes and portraits. Biography Born on 8 February 1833 in London to a German Jewish family, Felix Moscheles was the son of the well-known pianist and music teacher Ignaz Moscheles. The family settled in London during the early 1800s, where his father taught at the Royal Philharmonic Society. The family converted to Christianity after the move to England. His godfather, after whom he was named, was the composer Felix Mendelssohn, who had been a pupil of his father. In the 1840s, Mendelssohn founded Leipzig Conservatory and Moscheles' father took on a teaching post there. Felix attended the St. Thomas School and went on to study art. He married painter Margaret Moscheles (née Sobernheim) in 1875 in Germany. Together they spent the winter of 1893 in traveling in North Africa, which inspired a body of artwork. ... Michael Paradinas (born 26 September 1971), better known by his stage name μ-Ziq (pronounced "music" or mu-zik), is an English electronic musician from Wimbledon, London, Wimbledon, London. He was associated with the electronic style intelligent dance music (IDM) during the 1990s, and recorded on Rephlex Records and Reflective Records. His critically acclaimed 1997 album, ''Lunatic Harness'', helped define the drill 'n' bass subgenre and was also his most successful release, selling over 100,000 copies. Paradinas founded the record label Planet Mu, begun in 1995, where he has championed genres such as juke house, juke and footwork (genre), footwork.
