Mory Kanté
Mory Kanté (29 March 195022 May 2020) was a Guinean vocalist and player of the kora harp. He was best known internationally for his 1987 hit song " Yé ké yé ké", which reached number-one in Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, and Spain. The album it came from, ''Akwaba Beach'', was the best-selling African record of its time. Early life Kanté was born in Albadaria, French Guinea (a part of French West Africa at the time) on 29 March 1950. His father was El Hadj Djeli Fodé Kanté and his mother, Fatouma Kamissoko, was a singer. They were one of Guinea's best known families of griot (hereditary) musicians. He was of mixed Malian and Guinean descent. After being brought up in the Mandinka griot tradition in Guinea, he was sent to Mali at the age of seven years – where he learned to play the kora, as well as important voice traditions, some of which are necessary to become a griot. Mory Diaw (born 22 June 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Rodez on loan from Clermont. Born in France, he plays for the Senegal national team. Mory Sacko (born 24 September 1992) is a French chef. Biography Mory Sacko is from Senegalese and Malian descent. He earned a Michelin star with his first restaurant, MoSuke. Sacko opened the 35-seat restaurant in Paris in September 2020 with a mix of French, West African, and Japanese cuisine. Mory Konaté (born 15 November 1993) is a Guinean professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Belgian club Mechelen and the Guinea national team. Mory's, known also as Mory's Temple Bar, is a private club adjacent to the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, New Haven, Connecticut, United States, founded in 1849 and housed in a clubhouse that was originally a private home built sometime before 1817. Mitry-Mory () is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located in the north-eastern suburbs of Paris from the center just off the N2 national highway. About one-sixth of Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) (essentially runways and taxiways) lies on the territory of the commune of Mitry-Mory—mostly at the end of the runway. The construction of CDG caused the closure of the prewar Mitry-Mory airfield in the late 1960s. Mory Sinkoun Kaba (1933 – 2015), known as Kaba Mory or MS, was a Guinean businessman and philanthropist. Close to president Sékou Touré, he realised numerous state projects on his behalf. Kaba was the eldest son of Abdourahmane Sinkoun Kaba (1904 – 1972), a prominent figure in the Guinean revolution, who was known as ("Sinkoun Kaba the Elder"). Under colonial rule, he became the first Guinean administrator, and district commander.
