Morteza Mahjubi
Morteza Mahjoobi ( fa, مرتضی محجوبی; 1900 – 21 March 1965) was an Iranian peoples, Iranian piano, pianist and composer. He was a piano soloist for the ''Golha (radio programmes), Golha'' radio programme. Early life Morteza Mahjoobi ( fa, ) was born in 1900, in Tehran, Iran. His father, Abbas Ali ( fa, ), known as Nazer ( fa, ), played the Ney. His mother, Fakhr-o-SSaadaat ( fa, ), played the piano. Mahjoobi's parents sent him, along with his older brother Reza Mahjubi, Reza, to Hossein Hang Afarin who taught Reza the violin and Morteza the piano. At the age of ten, Morteza performed a concert accompanying Aref Qazvini in Farus Cinema ( fa, ). Darvish Khan
Darvish Khan ( fa, درویشخان , Gholam Hossein Darvish; 1872 – 22 November 1926) was a Persian classical musician and a tar player.http://www.hamshahrionline.ir/news.aspx?id=44944 Biography Darvish Khan was born in Tehran. His teachers included his father and Aqa Hossein-Qoli Farahani. He was a member of the Aziz Soltan music group. Later, he attended the Dar ol-Fonoon Music School. He played a concert at the Grand Hotel of Tehran with other great masters of Persian music of his time, including Aref Qazvini. Darvish left for London and Tbilisi to record. He died at the age of 54, on 22 November 1926, in an accident. His carriage was hit by a lorry automobile which was very rare at that time. Gholam-Hossein Banan
Gholām-Hossein Banān ( fa, غلامحسين بنان; 5 May 1911 – 27 February 1986) was an Iranian musician and singer. One of the most prominent Iranian singers of the 20th century, he was renowned for the quality of his voice. Biography Born in Tehran, Banān descended from a prominent family "with a background in government service". His father, Karim Khan Banān ol-Dowleh (son of Mohammad-Taqi Mirza Fazlollah Khan Mostowfi Nuri) was an admirer of traditional music. His mother was related to the ruling Qajar dynasty of Iran; she was the daughter of Mohammad Taqi Mirza Rokn ed-Dowleh, a brother of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar (1848–1896). Margaret Caton notes that Banān grew up in an environment where artistic development was fostered; his father sang and played the tar, while his mother played piano. Tasnif
Tasnif ( fa, تصنيف) is one of the several forms of Persian music and can be considered as the Persian equivalent of the ballad. It is a composed song in a slow metre. As is true of other forms of musical composition, most tasnifs are of relatively recent origin and by known composers. A large number of tasnifs were composed during the first two decades of the twentieth century. Many of them are based on patriotic themes reflecting the spirit of the constitutional movement of that period. Tasnifs composed during the twenties and the thirties are more concerned with amorous topics and the poetry used is generally from the works of classical poets. In the post-World War II period, the poetic context has gradually become light and the music of the tasnif has been affected by western popular songs. Aref Qazvini
Abolqassem Aref Qazvini ( fa, ابوالقاسم عارف قزوینی , 1882 – January 21, 1934) was an Iranian poet, lyricist, and musician. Biography He was born in Qazvin. He composed many poems about Iran and was called a ''national poet''. Along with his powerful poetry, he also wrote lyrics for numerous songs and played music. He was a revolutionary during the Iranian Constitutional Revolution and made many political and pro-revolutionary songs. He moved to Hamadan later in his life and died there in January 1934 at the age of 52. After his death his complete works were published in Berlin and Tehran. One of his poems is called "- ناله مرغ اسیر" (imprisoned bird's moaning)" in which he invites his fellows to fight for their freedom in the first sixth verses. He believes that their country is not supposed to be developed by the help of foreigners. Instead, he believes that people should sacrifice their lives in order to protect and save their country.
