Morten Thoresen
Morten Thoresen (born 2 January 1997) is a Norwegian Greco-Roman wrestler. He is a European champion and won the gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 67 kg event at the 2020 European Championships. He is also a European U23 Championships bronze medallist. Thoresen hails from Bodø Municipality. Career In 2018, Thoresen won one of the bronze medals in the men's 67kg event at the European U23 Wrestling Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey. A month earlier, he competed in the 67kg event at the European Wrestling Championships without winning a medal. He was eliminated in his second match by Fredrik Bjerrehuus of Denmark. In 2019, Thoresen competed in the 67kg event at the World Wrestling Championships held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan without winning a medal. The 2021 World Wrestling Championships was the 17th edition of the World Wrestling Championships of combined events and was held from 2 to 10 October 2021 in Oslo, Norway. The event was subsequent to the 2019 World Championships due to the cancelation of the 2020 edition during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 World Wrestling Championships was the 17th edition of the World Wrestling Championships of combined events and was held between 10 and 18 September 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. The UWW Bureau approved the candidature of Belgrade, Serbia as the host of the 2023 Senior World Championships. The Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series 2022 was a wrestling event held in Ostia, Rome, Italy between 22 and 25 of June 2022. The third United World Wrestling Ranking Series event of the year, it featured multiple World and Olympic Champions, Pan-American Champions, European Champions, Asian Champions and NCAA Champions. The United World Wrestling postponed the Matteo Pellicone. Despite the efforts of the Italian Wrestling Federation to host Rome's Matteo Pellicone on the previously scheduled dates of February 4–7, the latest restrictions due to the Omicron variant proved to be a roadblock in hosting the event.
