Morris WF
The Morris WE/Austin S203/S403/S503 was a bonneted truck produced by the British Motor Corporation from 1955. After a revision in 1964, it was marketed as the Morris WF/Austin S303/S403/S503 and from 1968 as the BMC WF. In the export markets, the Austin model was usually called the Morris, WE/WF. After BMC merged with Leyland Motors to form the British Leyland Motor Corporation, it was produced as the Leyland WF from 1970 to 1981 and replaced by the Leyland Landmaster. Description Production of these trucks started in 1955. Whereas Morris had thus far focused on cab-over-engine trucks with a greater focus on fast and high-volume transport, the Austin Loadstar was a heavier truck more suitable as a construction vehicle, artic tractor or breakdown vehicle, and for export. Morris Commercial Cars Limited is a British manufacturer of commercial vehicles formed by William Morris, founder of Morris Motors Limited, to continue the business of E G Wrigley and Company which he purchased as of 1 January 1924. History Morris bought the assets of Soho, Birmingham axle manufacturer E.G. Wrigley and Company after it was placed in liquidation late in 1923. Up until that point a small number of commercial vehicle variants of Morris cars were built at the Morris plant at Cowley, but with the newly acquired plant in Foundry Lane, Soho, Birmingham serious production began. Austin Loadstar
The Austin Loadstar was a truck produced by the British Austin Motor Company from 1949. It was Austin's first new truck design after World War II and the last stand-alone one. This 1 made the Loadstar a significant model for Austin, as it was their final truck design before merging with Morris Motors to form the British Motor Corporation (BMC). The Loadstar was a revised version of the Austin K2/Y, Austin K2 and was offered in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia, partly again as the Austin K2 for the 2-tonne and as the Austin K4 for the 5-tonne payload variant. Leyland Landtrain
The Leyland Landtrain was a heavy truck that was produced in the 1980s by British Leyland. Designed for the export markets in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, it was particularly popular in Nigeria, Kenya and Zimbabwe. The Landtrain was designed to be used in areas of limited infrastructure, where roads may be rough and fuel scarce. It was powered by four different engines and produced with three different gross vehicle weights (GVW), , and The Landtrain was produced as both a two-axle 4x2 and a three-axle 6x4 rigid and a 6x4 tractor. The truck was produced in the Leyland plant in Wolverhampton between 1980 and 1982, when production moved to Bathgate, and then finally to Watford in 1984. Leyland Motors Limited (later known as the Leyland Motor Corporation) was an English vehicle manufacturer of lorries, buses and trolleybuses. The company diversified into car manufacturing with its acquisitions of Triumph and Rover in 1960 and 1967, respectively. The Austin Motor Company Limited was a British manufacturer of motor vehicles, founded in 1905 by Herbert Austin, 1st Baron Austin, Herbert Austin in Longbridge.
