Pope Gregory VIII
Pope Gregory VIII (; c. 1100/1105 – 17 December 1187), born Alberto di Morra, was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States for two months in 1187. Becoming Pope after a long diplomatic career as Apostolic Chancellor, he was notable in his brief reign for reconciling the Papacy with the estranged Holy Roman Empire and for initiating the Third Crusade. Early life Alberto di Morra was born about 1105 in Benevento. His father was the nobleman Sartorius di Morra. He became a monk early in life, either as a Cistercian in Laon, or a Benedictine at Monte Cassino. Alberto later joined a new religious order, the Premonstratensian or Norbertine order, probably between the ages of 20–30. He was a canon at St. Martin's Abbey in Laon. He later became a professor of canon law in Bologna. Bernardino Morra
Bernardino Morra (c. 1549–1605) was a Roman Catholic prelate who served as Bishop of Aversa (1598–1605). Biography Morra had been Auditor of Cardinal Carlo Borromeo, Archbishop of Milan (1564–1584), and then his Vicar General. In 1594, Morra was Apostolic Visitor of S. Lorenzo in Lucina in Rome. In 1595, he was named secretary of the SC of Bishops and Regulars. On 9 October 1598, Bernardino Morra was appointed Bishop of Aversa by Pope Clement VIII. On 25 October 1598 he was consecrated bishop by Ottavio Bandini, Archbishop of Fermo. At the time of his appointment, Morra was serving as secretary of the Congregation of Bishops and Regulars in the Roman Curia. His duties did not allow him to leave his post, and therefore he sent Father Giovanni Leonardi as his Administrator of the city and diocese of Aversa. Luigi "Gigio" Morra (26 August 1945 – 10 March 2024) was an Italian actor, whose career spanned over 50 years. Life and career Born in Naples, Morra studied at the Accademia d’arte drammatica di Napoli, graduating in 1966. He started his career on stage with Carlo Cecchi, who gave him the nickname Gigio, after then popular puppet Topo Gigio. Morra was mainly active on theatre, where among others he worked in the stage companies of Eduardo De Filippo, Giuseppe Patroni Griffi, Maurizio Scaparro, Luca De Filippo, and Toni Servillo. Isabella di Morra (c. 1520 – 1545/1546) was an Italian poet of the Renaissance. An unknown figure in her lifetime, she was forced by her brothers to live in isolation, which estranged her from courts and literary salons. While living in solitude in her castle, she produced a body of work which did not circulate in the literary milieu of the time. Her brothers eventually murdered her for her suspected secret romance. Thirteen poems by her have survived to this day. Mario Morra (1935 – October 2024) was an Italian film editor, director and screenwriter. Moarre () is a village in Noardeast-Fryslân, Friesland, the Netherlands with roughly 227 inhabitants in January 2017. Before 2019, the village was part of the Dongeradeel municipality. History The village has a church with a characteristic 13th-century tower. Highway N361 runs just to the south of the village. Moarre was surrounded by fens (marshland) which are now cultivated.
