Morningwood
Morningwood was an alternative rock band from New York City. Founded in 2001, it primarily consisted of Pedro Yanowitz and Chantal Claret. Morningwood was signed to Capitol Records and released two albums. Claret went solo in 2012 and folded the band. Career Morningwood's self-titled debut album was produced by Gil Norton, known for his work with Pixies, the Foo Fighters, and Echo & the Bunnymen. Singles from the album include " Nth Degree", "Jetsetter" and "New York Girls." In support of the album, the band toured with Mindless Self Indulgence, Head Automatica, Gang of Four, Kasabian, The Sounds and The FireTheft on various legs of their US tour in 2006. Their song "Nth Degree" has been used in several Mercury vehicle commercials, which featured actress Jill Wagner. Pedro Yanowitz
Peter Yanowitz (born September 13, 1967, Chicago, Illinois, United States), also known as Pedro Yanowitz, is an American musician, songwriter, and visual artist. Yanowitz was the original drummer of The Wallflowers, and for Natalie Merchant on her first three solo records '' Tigerlily'', ''Ophelia'', and '' Live in Concert''. He also played drums for Money Mark, the Black Sabbath tribute band Hand of Doom with Melissa Auf der Maur, and with Nina Nastasia, on her album ''Dogs''. Other artists Yanowitz has played drums with include: Yoko Ono, Allen Ginsberg, and Wilco . Yanowitz was also the bass player, songwriter, and producer for the band Morningwood. Currently, Yanowitz is the drummer of Exclamation Pony with Ryan Jarman. Chantal Claret
Chantal Claret Euringer (born February 21, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter. She is best known as the lead singer for the rock and power pop band Morningwood. Early life Claret was born in Berkeley, California, on February 21, 1982, the daughter of Romanian mother Monique (1947–2004) and American father Foster Claret. Her parents were both art collectors. She primarily grew up in New York City, but has also lived in Texas. As a teenager, she was a promoter for several clubs in New York City. Music career Claret, along with Thrice drummer Riley Breckenridge, wrote a monthly advice column called "Battle of the Sexes" in ''Alternative Press (music magazine), Alternative Press'' magazine for nearly three years until late 2007. ''Morningwood'' is the first studio album by the New York City band Morningwood. It was released on Capitol Records in 2006. The album peaked at #102 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and #1 on the Heatseekers album chart. Several tracks were used on the soundtracks of video games: "Nü Rock" on ''Burnout Revenge'', '' Burnout Legends'' and ''SSX on Tour''; "Jetsetter" on '' Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix''; and "Babysitter" on '' The Sopranos: Road to Respect''. "Nth Degree" was used in the CW television show '' One Tree Hill'' (season 3, episode 14), as was and "Body 21" (season 3, episode 5). "Nth Degree" is a song by New York City band Morningwood from its debut album ''Morningwood''. "Nth Degree" reached No. 30 on the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. Alfredo Ortiz (born September 4, 1975) is an American musician, primarily a drummer and percussionist. He toured with the Beastie Boys as their drummer and percussionist from 1996 until their final show in 2009. He also appeared in their live concert film, ''Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That!'', and was featured in their Grammy Award-winning instrumental album, '' The Mix-Up''. The Sounds are a Swedish indie rock band. Formed in Helsingborg in 1998, the group's musical style has been compared to new wave acts such as Blondie, The Cars, the Epoxies and Missing Persons. The Foo Fighters
The Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994. Initially founded as a one-man project by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, the band comprises vocalist/guitarist Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel, guitarist Pat Smear, guitarist Chris Shiflett, and keyboardist Rami Jaffee. Guitarist Franz Stahl and drummers William Goldsmith, Taylor Hawkins, and Josh Freese are former members. Echo & the Bunnymen are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Liverpool in 1978. The original line-up consisted of vocalist Ian McCulloch (singer), Ian McCulloch, guitarist Will Sergeant and bassist Les Pattinson. By 1980, Pete de Freitas joined as the band's drummer. Gang Of Four (band)
Gang of Four are an English post-punk band, formed in 1976 in Leeds. The original members were singer Jon King, guitarist Andy Gill, bass guitarist Dave Allen and drummer Hugo Burnham. There have been many different line-ups including, among other notable musicians, Sara Lee, Gail Ann Dorsey, Mark Heaney and David Pajo. After a brief lull in the 1980s, different constellations of the band recorded two studio albums in the 1990s. Between 2004 and 2006 the original line-up was reunited; Gill toured using the name between 2012 and his death in 2020.
