Moritz Lanegger
Moritz Lanegger (born 29 March 1990) is an Austrian professional basketball player for the Vienna DC Timberwolves of the Austrian Basketball Superliga. Lanegger is also a member of the Austrian national team. He plays the point guard position. Professional career Lanegger started his career in 2006 with Kapfenberg Bulls. In 2011 he signed with Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg. In his second year there, he won his first Austrian championship. In August 2015, Lanegger signed with reigning Austrian champions Güssing Knights. On January 29, 2018, Lanegger signed with CB BahÃa San AgustÃn out of Palma, Spain. He played for the Klosterneuburg Dukes from 2018 to 2020. On December 28, 2021, Lanegger signed with the Vienna DC Timberwolves. The Austria men's national basketball team () represents Austria in international basketball competition. The team is controlled and organised by Basketball Austria. Austria has competed at the EuroBasket six times throughout their history. Their best performance overall came at the 1951 tournament. However, the team is still seeking qualification to their first appearance on to the global stage at the FIBA World Cup. History EuroBasket 1947 Austria first competed in the European Basketball Championship at EuroBasket 1947, placing 12th of 14 teams. Initially, the team struggled and lost both of their preliminary round matches, along with their first semifinal round match. Then they defeated Albania to place second in the group and set up a match against the Netherlands for 11th and 12th place, which Austria lost after a long battle. The Austrian Basketball Bundesliga (in German: Österreichische Basketball Bundesliga) was the top men's professional basketball league in Austria. Until the 2004–05 season, the league was known as the A-Liga (A-League) and then until the 2008–09 season it was called the Österreichische Basketball Bundesliga (ÖBL). From 2008 to 2019, it was named the Admiral Basketball League, after the league's main sponsor, Admiral Sportwetten. In 2019, the competition was replaced by the Austrian Basketball Superliga. Competition format In the current season each team plays the other nine teams four times, creating a 36-game regular-season schedule. After that, the top six teams move on.
