More Than Conquerors (band)
More Than Conquerors were an alternative rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. History Formed in 2009, Kris Platt united with Danny Ball on guitar, Danny Morton on bass, and Jamie Neish on drums to form the band "More Than Conquerors". Signing to Northern Irish independent record label Smalltown America (And So I Watch You From Afar, LaFaro, Jetplane Landing) in early 2010, the band released their debut EP ''More Than Conquerors''. Gaining recognition within the BBC Introducing platform and on BBC Radio Ulster’s "Across The Line" radio show lead to a main-stage appearance at Northern Irish festival Glasgowbury in the summer of 2011. More Than Conquerors' latest EP ''Boots & Bones'' was released by Smalltown America Records on 7 November 2011. According to their MySpace page, they are currently signed to Smalltown America. Smalltown America Records
Smalltown America (STA) was a UK-based independent record label formed in 2001. Staff are currently based in London and Derry, and the label has a stated aim of "cultivating a productive staff of music lovers and a self-sustainable business model, through which artists can release the best records they can possibly produce." Originally set up by Jetplane Landing as the platform for their releases, the label has now released numerous albums by other acts, as well as nine ''Public Service Broadcast'' compilation CDs. LaFaro
LaFaro were a four-piece alternative rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They consisted of Jonny Black (guitar/vocals), Dave Magee (guitar), Herb Magee (Bass) and Alan Lynn (drums). History Formed in 2004 LaFaro have been described as: "old school post hardcore sounds with just drums, guitars and big chunky distorted bass...they are one of the finest Irish Alt-Rock bands you are likely to hear in quite a while". Once signed to Field Records, and while with the label released the well received "LaFaro EP" in 2006 containing the lead track "Tupenny Nudger". The band had been voted BBC Northern Ireland Across the Line Local Act of the Year for 2 years running and had features in Hot Press and Alternative Ulster magazines. Glasgowbury Music Festival
The Glasgowbury Music Festival was an annual music festival held in Draperstown, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland running from 2000 - 2013. History The Glasgowbury Music Festival made its first appearance in the summer of 2000 as a gathering of local bands, acts and showcases to raise awareness for the local charity, the Ulster Cancer Foundation. The event was co-ordinated by singer/songwriter Paddy Glasgow and the event is named after him. The name is a play on Glastonbury Festival.
