Eddie Mordue
Edwin "Eddie" Mordue (5 January 1928 – 26 January 2011) was a British jazz saxophonist whose career spanned 70 years. Born in South Shields in January 1928, Edwin Mordue moved to London in 1941 aged 13 and toured with 'Archie's Juvenile Band'. During the Second World War, he played tenor saxophone with the Eric Winstone Band where he met singer Julie Dawn, whom he married in 1950. The couple went on to record and perform with Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly and Sammy Davis Jr. Eddie joined the Jack Nathan Band in 1951, a regular at the London Palladium and the emerging West End jazz scene, then worked as a freelance, loaning his sound to the benefit of Nat King Cole, Judy Garland and Billie Holiday's last concert. Many recordings followed in the 1960s including tracks with Dusty Springfield, Alexis Korner and Shirley Bassey. Eddie remarried in 1967, his wife, Gudrun, bore him three sons. Jackie Mordue
John Mordue (13 December 1886 – 6 March 1938) was an English footballer who played at outside right, and won the Football League championship with Sunderland in 1912–13 and made two appearances for England. Career Early career Mordue was born in Edmondsley, County Durham, the fifth son of Thomas Mordue, . As a youth he played for various local village teams and was spotted by Barnsley whilst playing for Spennymoor United. He joined the Oakwell club in October 1906, and played 25 Second Division games with 12 goals. In April the following year he moved to London when he was sold to Woolwich Arsenal for £450, where he linked up with his brother-in-law, goalkeeper Jimmy Ashcroft. Mordue made his debut for Arsenal on 13 April 1907 and went on to play 28 games for Arsenal (26 in the First Division, two in the FA Cup) in thirteen months, scoring one goal. A. Jennifer Mordue FRES is an entomologist in the United Kingdom. She is Emeritus Professor of Zoology at the University of Aberdeen, the first female professor of zoology at the university. Education and career Mordue was educated at the University of Sheffield graduating with a BSc in Zoology. Research Mordue's research has looked at why humans have different attractiveness to insects such as biting midges ''Culicoides impunctatus'', later research showed that taller people were more likely to be bitten. Mordue researched the sex pheromone n-heptadecane of the biting midge ''Culicoides nubeculosus'', this could be used to make a trap to lure the insects away from livestock and humans. She has also researched the DNA of the several ''Culicoides'' species of midges that transmit bluetongue, a disease of livestock. Shayna Rose (born Shayna Rose Mordue; November 3, 1983) is an American actress and singer. Early life Rose moved to Los Angeles in 2002 after declining a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She went between acting, singing, songwriting, auditions, and two jobs. Career Rose started performing and singing professionally when she was eight years old and appeared in a variety of regional musicals, including "Into the Woods" starring as Little Red Riding Hood at the Denver Civic Theater / Feast of Fools Theatre.
