Morden Road Tram Stop
Morden Road is a Tramlink stop in the London Borough of Merton. It is on the site of the former Morden Road railway station on the Wimbledon-West Croydon line, which closed to rail traffic in 1997. The tram stop consists of two platforms on either side of the double track, linked by pedestrian level crossings. Immediately to the east of the station is a single-track section which reaches as far as Phipps Bridge tram stop. The eastbound platform is directly linked by ramp and stairway to Morden Road. The town centre of Morden lies to the south. A pedestrian entrance to the National Trust's Morden Hall Park is on Morden Road just to the south of the stop. The stop is interlinked as an out of station interchange (OSI) with South Wimbledon on the London Underground's Northern line. Tramlink
Tramlink, previously Croydon Tramlink and currently branded as London Trams, is a light rail tram system serving Croydon and surrounding areas in South London, England. It is the first operational tram system serving the London region since 1952. Tramlink is presently managed by London Trams, a public body part of Transport for London (TfL), and has been operated by FirstGroup since 2017. Morden is a London Underground station in Morden in the London Borough of Merton. It is the southern terminus of the Northern line, and is the most southerly station on the Underground network. It is located on London Road (the A24 road (Great Britain), A24), and is in Travelcard Zone 4. Nearby are Morden Hall Park and Morden Park. The low-floor design improves the accessibility of the tram for the public, and also may provide larger windows and more airspace. The Stadler Variobahn (formerly sold as the ABB Variotram, Adtranz Variotram and Bombardier Variotram) is a German-designed model of articulated low-floor tram and light rail vehicle. Bombardier CR4000
The Bombardier CR4000 is a 76% low floor model of the Bombardier Flexity Swift trams operated by Tramlink in London. They are based on and very similar in appearance to the K4000 used on the low-platform routes of the Cologne Stadtbahn network. Built between 1998 and 2000, the trams entered service in the spring of 2000. History 24 trams were ordered from Bombardier Transportation and built at its factory in Vienna, Austria between 1998 and 2000. The first tram, 2530, was delivered to Therapia Lane depot on 13 September 1998, with testing beginning soon afterwards.
