''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' (''TMNT'') is an American media franchise created by comic book artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. It follows Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Leonardo, Donatello (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Donatello, Raphael (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Raphael and Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Michelangelo, four Anthropomorphism, anthropomorphic turtle brothers trained in ''ninjutsu'' who fight evil in New York City. The franchise encompasses printed media, television series, feature films, video games, and merchandise. The franchise began as a comic book, ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Mirage Studios), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'', which Eastman and Laird conceived as a parody of elements popular in superhero comics at the time. Kevin Eastman
Kevin Brooks Eastman (born May 30, 1962) is an American comic book writer and artist best known for co-creating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Peter Laird. Eastman was also formerly the editor and publisher of the magazine ''Heavy Metal (magazine), Heavy Metal''. Early life and career Eastman was born in Portland, Maine. He attended Westbrook High School (Maine), Westbrook High School in Westbrook, Maine, with comic book illustrator Steve Lavigne. He grew up a comic book fan, with Jack Kirby as his idol and ''Kamandi'' as his favorite title of his. In 1983, he worked in a restaurant while he searched for publishers for his comics. He met a waitress who was attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst and followed her to Northampton, Massachusetts. Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
Michelangelo, nicknamed Mikey, is a superhero and one of the four main characters of the ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' comics and all related media. Characterized as the most naturally gifted of the four brothers, Michelangelo prefers leisure to training martial arts. The most jocular and energetic of the team, he is shown to be rather immature; he is known for his wisecracks, quick-wit, optimism, and love of skateboarding and pizza. He is usually depicted wearing an orange eye mask. His signature weapons are a single or dual nunchaku, though he has also been portrayed using other weapons, such as a grappling hook, manriki-gusari, kusarigama, tonfa, and a three-section staff (in some action figures).
