Moptop (band)
Moptop was a Brazilian alternative rock band from Rio de Janeiro, popular throughout the mid- to late 2000s. Initially known as DeLux, they were formed in 2003 and comprised vocalist/lead guitarist Gabriel Marques, second guitarist Rodrigo Curi, bassist Daniel Campos and drummer Mário Mamede. Strongly influenced by acts such as The Strokes (to whom they were frequently compared), The Beatles, Franz Ferdinand, Ramones and Los Hermanos, they began playing in small venues with songs in English; by the time of the release of their first demo, ''Moonrock'', in 2005, they changed their name to "Moptop" in a reference to the famous hairstyle worn by The Beatles in the 1960s. In 2006 they signed to Universal Music Group for the release of their debut full-length album, the self-titled ''Moptop'', which spawned the hit singles "O Rock Acabou" and "Sempre Igual", included in the soundtrack of the 14th season of the long-running soap opera '' Malhação''. The 2005 MTV Video Music Brazil was hosted by Selton Mello and took place at the Credicard Hall. It was the only edition of the awards where the presenters of the main categories performed a song or a medley of songs related to the category presented before introducing the nominees and announcing the winners. MTV Brasil
MTV Brasil was a Brazilian over-the-air television network owned by Grupo Abril focused on the youth. The network was launched on 20 October 1990, as the first specialty television network to broadcast over-the-air, becoming the local version of MTV. It was the third MTV version launched in the world, and the first to broadcast via terrestrial television. The network headquarters was in São Paulo city, in the Avenida Professor Alfonso Bovero, 52, on the neighborhood Sumaré, which was formerly the headquarters of Rede Tupi. This building was listed by Conselho de Defesa do Patrimônio Histórico (Condephaat) as a historical heritage, becoming the first to be listed in the city. The Bravery
The Bravery is an American rock band formed in New York City in 2003. The band consists of lead vocalist Sam Endicott, guitarist Michael Zakarin, keyboardist John Conway, bassist Mike Hindert and drummer Anthony Burulcich. They are best known for their 2005 top 10 UK single " An Honest Mistake" and their certified gold 2008 single "Believe". Before their initial split, they released three studio albums: '' The Bravery'' (2005), '' The Sun and the Moon'' (2007) and '' Stir the Blood'' (2009). Interpol (band)
Interpol is an American rock band from Manhattan, New York. Formed in 1997, their original line-up consisted of Paul Banks (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Daniel Kessler (lead guitar, backing vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass guitar, keyboards), and Greg Drudy (drums). Oasis were an English Rock music, rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Originally known as the Rain, the group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (musician), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums). ''Malhação'' (, ''Young Hearts'' in English) is a Brazilian soap-opera that aired on TV Globo from 4 March 1995 to 3 April 2020. The series is targeted at a teenage audience. Each season runs for about a year with cast members changing every season.
