Moorooduc is a rural township on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-east of Melbourne's central business district, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Moorooduc recorded a population of 1,004 at the 2021 census. The Moorooduc Highway runs through the locality, being the main route between Melbourne and the Peninsula. Moorooduc Post Office opened on 27 August 1890 and closed in 1980. The Mornington Railway Preservation Society operates steam and diesel train services from Moorooduc railway station on weekends and public holidays. A short walk from Moorooduc railway station is the Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve. Moorooduc Highway
Moorooduc Highway is a 16 km highway which runs from Frankston to Tuerong and, together with the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, was part of the main route from Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula until the completion of Peninsula Link in 2013. This name is not widely known to most drivers, as the entire allocation is still best known as by the names of its constituent parts: McMahons Road, Frankston–Flinders Road, and Moorooduc Road. This article will deal with the entire length of the corridor for sake of completion, as well to avoid confusion between declarations. Moorooduc Quarry Flora And Fauna Reserve
The Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve is located in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia and occupies approximately 27 hectares of land. There are entrances to the reserve located on Allison Road, Canadian Bay Road, Two Bays Road and Station Street near the Moorooduc Railway Station. History Rock was quarried using explosives, loaded into dobbin carts and taken to a steam powered crusher. Moorooduc Railway Station
Moorooduc railway station is located on Two Bays Road, Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. The station is home to the Mornington Railway Preservation Society. Adjacent to the station is the Mount Eliza Regional Park which incorporates the Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve. Moorooduc station has one platform, which terminates services on the line.
