Moore Park Golf Course is a 18-hole public golf club and driving range in Moore Park, New South Wales, Australia. Mount Rennie is the heritage-listed Moore Park Golf House that was opened on 19 June 1926. The Golf House is a two-storey brick building with tiled roof and features a restaurant and bar with views of the golf course and a 150-seat function centre with views towards the city of Sydney. Moore Park is a suburb in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney located from the Sydney central business district, CBD, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of local government area of the City of Sydney. Moore Park is also a large area of parkland that is part of Centennial Parklands, a collective of three parks being Moore Park, Centennial Park and Queen's Park. Centennial Parklands is the name given to a group of three urban parklands located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Comprising approximately , the lands encompass Centennial Park, Moore Park and Queens Park. The Parklands are listed on the New South Wales Heritage Register, with various components of national, state or local heritage significance. The New South Wales Open is an annual golf tournament held in New South Wales, Australia. The event was founded in 1931 as the New South Wales Close Championship, being restricted to residents of New South Wales, becoming the New South Wales Open Championship in 1958 when it was opened up to players from outside New South Wales. Norman Von Nida won the event six times, while Jim Ferrier and Frank Phillips won it five times with Greg Norman winning it four times. History The event was founded in 1931 as the New South Wales Close Championship, being restricted to residents of New South Wales. The first event was held at Manly Golf Club and, after 72 holes played over two days, resulted in a tie between three professionals Charlie Gray, Tom Howard and Sam Richardson. Carnegie (Neg) Clark (1881–1959) was a champion golfer, golf club manufacturer, a golf course architect and an organiser of professional golf in Australia. Early life Clark was born on 27 July 1881 in Carnoustie, Scotland. He was a member of Carnoustie Golf Links, The Carnoustie Golf Club. Professional career Clark began his career as a golf course designer. In 1904, he designed The Australian Golf Club with Jock Hutchison and Gilbert Martin. He also won a number of significant tournaments during this era including the Australian Open (golf), Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship. Clover Margaret Moore (née Collins, born 22 October 1945) is an Australian politician. She has been the Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney since 2004 and is currently the longest serving Lord Mayor of Sydney since the creation of the City of Sydney in 1842.
