Moore Ministry (Queensland)
The Moore Ministry was a ministry of the Government of Queensland and was led by Country and Progressive National Party (CPNP) Premier Arthur Edward Moore. It succeeded the McCormack Ministry on 21 May 1929, ten days after William McCormack's Labor government was defeated at the 1929 state election. The ministry was followed by the Forgan Smith Ministry on 18 June 1932 after the CPNP were defeated by Labor at the 1932 state election a week earlier. The Ministry
In constitutional usage in Commonwealth realms, a ministry (usually preceded by the definite article, i.e., the ministry) is a collective body of government ministers led by a head of government, such as a prime minister. It is described by Oxford Dictionaries as "a period of government under one prime minister". Although the term "cabinet" can in some circumstances be a synonym, a ministry can be a broader concept which might include office-holders who do not participate in cabinet meetings. Other titles can include "administration" (in the United States) or "government" (in common usage among most parliamentary systems) to describe similar collectives. The term is primarily used to describe the successive governments of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, which share a common political heritage. Harry Frederick Walker (15 April 1873 – 23 October 1950) was an Australian company director and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Walker was born in Gympie, Queensland, to parents William Henry Walker and his wife Charlotte Caroline (née Stocker) and was educated at One Mile State School, Monkland State School and the local Grammar School. He was a miner and engine-driver in 1890 and in 1897 was part of the Light Horse Jubilee Contingent in London. He fought in the Boer War and by 1906 was the chairman of the Murarrie Bacon Factory and a director of the Wide Bay Cooperative Dairy Co.
