Electoral District Of Lara
Lara is a seat in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It covers much of the area between the western suburbs of Melbourne and the regional city of Geelong. Most of the voters come from the very northern suburbs of Geelong, including Lara, Bell Post Hill and Corio. The district also includes the country towns of Anakie, Balliang and Little River but these add very few voters to the district. The electorate was created at the 2002 state election, replacing the abolished Geelong North. Moorabool Railway Station
Moorabool is a closed railway station on the Geelong–Ballarat railway line, in the locality of Moorabool, Victoria, Australia. Until 1864 it was called Steiglitz Road. The station building was constructed for the Victorian Railways in 1861, by a private contractor, and comprises a single-storey, gable-roofed, bluestone station building, with an attached two-storey residence. The station was closed to all traffic on 21 December 1976, but is still passed by ''The Overland'' and freight trains. The station building was sold in 1977 and currently serves as a private residence. The Victorian Heritage Register (VHR) lists places deemed to be of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria, Australia. It has statutory weight under the Heritage Act 2017. The Minister for Planning is the responsible Minister. Heritage Victoria was established as the State Government listing and permit authority in 1995, replacing the original authority, the Historic Buildings Preservation Council, established in 1974. Listing on the Victorian Heritage Register is separate from listing by a local Council or Shire, known as a Heritage Overlay. The Victorian Big Battery is a grid-connected battery electricity storage facility adjacent to the Moorabool Terminal Station ( substation) near Geelong in Victoria, Australia. The battery provides 450 MWh of storage and can discharge at 300 MW. It surpasses the 250 MWh Gateway Energy Storage in California, United States. As of December 2021, the project is the largest lithium-ion battery in the Southern Hemisphere. The Victorian Big Battery is owned and operated by French renewable energy producer Neoen. Funding of $160 million was provided by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, the Australian government's green bank. Construction started at the beginning of 2021.
