''The Upper Hand'' is a British television sitcom which broadcast on ITV. It was adapted from the American series, '' Who's the Boss?'', created by Martin Cohan and Blake Hunter, who went on to serve as creative consultants for the British version. The series was produced by Central, in association with Columbia Pictures Television, and later Columbia TriStar Central and Carlton Productions. ''The Upper Hand'' is a British television sitcom broadcast by ITV from 1 May 1990 to 14 October 1996. The programme was adapted from the American sitcom '' Who's the Boss?''. As in the former series, affluent single woman Caroline Wheatley, raising her son with the help of her mother Laura West, hires a housekeeper and a man called Charlie Burrows applies for the job. Katherine Marie Helmond (July 5, 1929 – February 23, 2019) was an American actress.
