Monza Biennial IV
The Milan Biennial IV was the fourth biennial, and like the earlier ones was organised by the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche (ISIA) and held in Monza at the Royal Villa of Monza. It was called the ''International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts'', a change in name from the earlier three, and had an increased scope including architecture. Royal Villa Of Monza
The Royal Villa (Italian: ''Villa Reale'') is a historical building in Monza, Northern Italy. It lies on the banks of the Lambro river, surrounded by the large Monza Park, one of the largest enclosed parks in Europe. The Royal Villa, also called the Palace of Monza, is a neoclassical palace built by the Habsburgs as a private residence during the Austrian domination of the 18th century. It became the residence of the viceroy with the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy and during the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia, but it lost this function during the Kingdom of Italy of the House of Savoy, the last royals to use it. The Royal Villa was abandoned by the royal family following the murder of King Umberto I in Monza on 29 July 1900 by anarchist Gaetano Bresci. Istituto Superiore Per Le Industrie Artistiche
ISIA - Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche (''Higher Institute for Artistic Industries''), is the name of four Italian universities, which train students in the field of design. The ISIAs are in Rome, Florence, Faenza and Urbino. They are public institutions under the umbrella of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, AFAM (''Artistic and Musical Higher Education'', Italian: ''Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale'') division. Monza Biennial III
The Milan Biennial III was the third edition of the Monza Biennial, and the last to focus on ceramics, graphic and the decorative arts, before expanding scope to include architecture. This, and the other 3 biennials, were organised by the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche (ISIA) to provide an arts vision for the new Kingdom of Italy. The Milan Triennial V was the first to be held at the , the first recognised by the Bureau of International Expositions and also the first to be a triennial event (having previously been held biennially).
