Montenegrin Littoral
The Montenegrin Littoral (), historically known as the Littoral or the Maritime, is the littoral or coastline region of Montenegro which borders the Adriatic Sea. The littoral was lost to Austria and Turkey during its collapse due to Ottoman invasion - but it was regained in 1878 (Turkish-occupied portion) and 1918 (Austrian-occupied portion) following the Serbian-Montenegrin victories in the Russo-Turkish War and World War 1 respectively. Geography Kotor is part of the World Heritage Site dubbed the Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor. History Middle Ages The region was part of Serbia in the Middle Ages. Littoral
The littoral zone, also called litoral or nearshore, is the part of a sea, lake, or river that is close to the shore. In coastal ecology, the littoral zone includes the intertidal zone extending from the high water mark (which is rarely inundated), to coastal areas that are permanently submerged — known as the ''foreshore'' — and the terms are often used interchangeably. However, the geographical meaning of ''littoral zone'' extends well beyond the intertidal zone to include all neritic waters within the bounds of continental shelves. Jaz Beach
Jaz ( sr-Cyrl, Јаз, ) is a beach in the Budva Municipality in Montenegro. It is located 2.5 km west of central Budva. It consists of two areas, one of which measures about 850 metres (or slightly under 1 km) and the other, formerly a nudist beach, stretches around 450 metres (0.45 km). It is unique in that it is a pebble beach; there is a campground along the main section of the beach as well, with an availability of 2,000 lots. While it is one of the longer beaches in Montenegro—and a popular spot for sunbathing, swimming, camping, etc.— Jaz has gained prominence in the years since an area was remodeled, and can now host major musical acts and performances. A concert stage (with connected backstage facilities) was built, along with better road access, and seating for over 40,000 spectators. Bar (Montenegrin language, Montenegrin: Bar, Бар, , ) is a town and seaport in Coastal Montenegro, Coastal region of Montenegro. It is the capital of the Bar Municipality and a center for tourism. According to the 2023 census, the city proper had 15,868 inhabitants, while the total population of Bar Municipality was 46,171. Name Bar is supposed to be a shortened Slavic variant of ''Antivari''. Perast () is a town in Coastal Montenegro, Coastal region of Montenegro. It is situated a few kilometres northwest of Kotor and is noted for its proximity to the islets of Sveti Đorđe Island, St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks.
