Monteagle Stearns
Monteagle "Monty" Stearns (December 5, 1924 – May 14, 2016) was an American diplomat and author. He served as Ambassadors of the United States, Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast; 1976–79) and United States Ambassador to Greece, Greece (1981–85). Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he attended Columbia University in 1948 and graduated with his B.A. He was a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy and Council on Foreign Relations.Profile at NNDB He was married to Antonia Riddleberger and had 6 children. Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. (born Leslie Lynch King Jr.; July 14, 1913December 26, 2006) was the 38th president of the United States, serving from 1974 to 1977. Robert Solwin Smith
Robert Solwin Smith (1924 New York City – May 22, 2013 McLean, Virginia) was a non-career appointee who served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs between 1969 and 1974, American Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Ivory Coast from 1974 to 1976, and vice president of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. He left Yale University to serve in the Navy during World War II. Smith returned to Yale, graduating in 1947. He received a master's degree in 1949 and a doctorate in 1956, both in government, at Harvard University. The Order of the Phoenix () is an Order (decoration), order of Greece, established on 13 May 1926, by the republicanism, republican government of the Second Hellenic Republic to replace the defunct Order of George I, Royal Order of George I. The order was retained after the restoration of the Kingdom of Greece (Glücksburg), monarchy in 1935 and continues to be awarded by the current Third Republic.
