Monsildale Homestead
Monsildale Homestead is a heritage-listed homestead at 2532 Monsildale Road, Monsildale, Somerset Region, Queensland, Australia. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 3 April 2009. History Monsildale Homestead is a grazing property distinguished by a large timber residence which stands in a picturesque setting on a knoll to the east of Monsildale Road, within a loop of Monsildale Creek. The core section of the main residence was built between 1871 and 1877 on land selected by cattle grazier James Steven during the second phase of the settlement of the Brisbane River Valley, and an extension to the south was added by the Horne family, probably during the 1910s. The property was owned by members of the Horne and Woodrow families between c.1912 and 1978, and although the original cattle station has been subdivided and deer are now farmed close to the main residence, the property still runs cattle. Monsildale is a rural locality in the Somerset Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Monsildale had a population of 21 people. History The name ''Monsildale'' comes from the name of pastoral run used by David Cannon McConnel (1818-1885), which was named after the Derbyshire valley which contained Cressbrook, his home town. Monsildale Provisional School opened on 2 June 1913. In 1923, the school was relocated and renamed Foxlowe Provisional School. Then on 25 June 1926 it was renamed Jimna Provisional School and on 1 October 1934 became Jimna State School. It was mothballed in 2006 and officially closed on 31 December 2009. Louisavale Provisional School opened on 11 November 1915. It closed on closed on 1 Feb 1934 due to low student numbers, but reopened on 25 July 1934. It closed permanently on 9 September 1940. Newchapel, Staffordshire
Newchapel is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Kidsgrove, in the Newcastle-under-Lyme district, in the county of Staffordshire, England. In 1951 the parish had a population of 4135. Newchapel was originally named Thursfield. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086 as Turvoldesfeld. After the Reformation in the 17th century the land reverted to private ownership, the new owner built a stone Chapel and the village was renamed Newchapel. Thursfield was formerly a chapelry in the parish of Wolstanton, On 31 December 1894 it became a civil parish in its own right. From 1894 to 1904 Newchapel formed part of Wolstanton Rural District. Villeneuve is a rural town and locality in the Somerset Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Villeneuve had a population of 179 people. Geography A section of the northern boundary of Villeneuve follows the D'Aguilar Highway. History The town is named after the railway station, which in turn took its name from Frank Villeneuve Nicholson, owner of the property Villeneuve. Farming was established at Villeneuve in the late 1870s. Villeneuve Provisional School opened on 30 May 1887 with a new building erected in 1888 which it shared with the Anglican Church.
