Monovithya Kem
Monovithya Kem (born 2 October 1981) is the eldest daughter of Cambodian opposition leader Kem Sokha. She is a member of the Permanent Committee of the Cambodia National Rescue Party and its Deputy Director-General of Public Affairs since 2013. She is currently in exile, following the country’s political crisis in 2017, when her father was imprisoned and the Cambodia National Rescue Party was dissolved. She has since been leading the advocacy efforts abroad to restore Cambodia’s democracy. Her advocacy has drawn threats from the ruling regime including that from the Deputy Prime Minister threatening to amend the Constitution to ban her from the country. She has been reported to be a target of alleged ongoing espionage from China. Kem Sokha
Kem Sokha ( km, កឹម សុខា; born 27 June 1953) is a Cambodian politician and activist who most recently served as the President of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP). He served as the Minority Leader, the highest-ranking opposition parliamentarian, of the National Assembly from December 2016 to January 2017, and previously as the First Vice President of the National Assembly from August 2014 to October 2015. He represented Kampong Cham as its Member of Parliament (MP) from 2008 to 2017. From 2007 to 2012, Kem was the leader of the Human Rights Party, which he founded. Kem was arrested and imprisoned at a detention centre in Tbong Khmum Province on 3 September 2017 under allegations of treason. In November 2017, the CNRP was dissolved, and 118 of its members, including Kem, were banned from politics for five years. Cambodia National Rescue Party
The Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP; km, គណបក្សសង្គ្រោះជាតិ ) was a major political party in Cambodia. It was founded in 2012 as a merger between the Sam Rainsy Party and Human Rights Party (Cambodia), Human Rights Party. The party believed in the strengthening of freedom and human rights, institution of free and fair elections, and defending Cambodia's "national integrity". It became the sole challenger to the Cambodian People's Party after the 2013 Cambodian general election, 2013 election. Its official motto was "Rescue, Serve, Protect" ( ) and the logo for the CNRP is the rising sun.
