Monotygma Sinuata
''Monotygma'' is a genus of sea snails, marine (ocean), marine gastropod mollusks in the family (biology), family Pyramidellidae, the pyrams and their allies.Vaught, K.C. (1989). A classification of the living Mollusca. American Malacologists: Melbourne, FL (USA). . XII, 195 pp. The status of this genus was for a long time confused, but the situation was clarified in a review by van Aartsen (1986). Life habits Little is known about the biology of the members of this genus. As is true of most members of the Pyramidellidae ''sensu lato'', they are most likely to be ectoparasites. Species The following species are recognised in the genus ''Monotygma'': *''Monotygma acuminata'' *''Monotygma amoena'' *''Monotygma caelata'' *''Monotygma elata'' *''Monotygma enosima'' *''Monotygma eximia'' *''Monotygma fulva'' *''Monotygma granulata'' * † ''Monotygma ivolasi'' *''Monotygma julii'' *''Monotygma lauta'' * † ''Monotygma marcusseni'' *''Monotygma metula'' *''Monotygma p ...

Genus
Genus (; : genera ) is a taxonomic rank above species and below family (taxonomy), family as used in the biological classification of extant taxon, living and fossil organisms as well as Virus classification#ICTV classification, viruses. In binomial nomenclature, the genus name forms the first part of the binomial species name for each species within the genus. :E.g. ''Panthera leo'' (lion) and ''Panthera onca'' (jaguar) are two species within the genus ''Panthera''. ''Panthera'' is a genus within the family Felidae. The composition of a genus is determined by taxonomy (biology), taxonomists. The standards for genus classification are not strictly codified, so different authorities often produce different classifications for genera. There are some general practices used, however, including the idea that a newly defined genus should fulfill these three criteria to be descriptively useful: # monophyly – all descendants of an ancestral taxon are grouped together (i.e. Phylogeneti ...
