Monos (film)
''Monos'' is a 2019 internationally co-produced war drama film directed by Alejandro Landes, written by Landes and Alexis Dos Santos and produced by Fernando Epstein, Santiago Zapata, Martin Solibakke, Cristina Landes and Landes himself. It stars Julianne Nicholson and Moisés Arias. The film follows a group of teenage soldiers assigned to watch over a hostage. This film was released in the United States on September 13, 2019, by Neon and Participant, receiving positive reviews from critics. The film had its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival on 26 January 2019, where it won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award. Alejandro Landes
Alejandro Landes Echavarría (born in 1980, São Paulo, Brazil) is a Colombian people, Colombian-Ecuadorian people, Ecuadorian film director, producer, screenwriter, and journalist. He is mainly known for directing Spanish-language films such as ''Porfirio (film), Porfirio'', a Colombian drama that was based on a true story, and the documentary ''Cocalero'' about Evo Morales's successful presidential campaign in Bolivia. Biography Landes Echavarría was born in São Paulo, Brazil to a Colombian mother and Ecuadorian father. Landes Echavarría received a B.A. in Political Economy from Brown University in 2003. ''Beau Travail'' (, French for "good work") is a 1999 French film directed by Claire Denis, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Jean-Pol Fargeau, an adaptation of the novella ''Billy Budd'' by Herman Melville. The story is set in Djibouti, where the protagonists are soldiers in the French Foreign Legion. Parts of the soundtrack of the movie are from Benjamin Britten's 1951 opera based on the novella. ''Come and See'' is a 1985 Soviet historical anti-war film directed by Elem Klimov and starring Aleksei Kravchenko and Olga Mironova. Its screenplay, written by Klimov and Ales Adamovich, is based on the 1971 novel ''Khatyn'' () and the 1977 collection of survivor testimonies ''I Am from the Fiery Village'' (), of which Adamovich was a co-author. William Golding
Sir William Gerald Golding (19 September 1911 – 19 June 1993) was a British novelist, playwright, and poet. Best known for his debut novel '' Lord of the Flies'' (1954), Golding published another 12 volumes of fiction in his lifetime. In 1980, Golding was awarded the Booker Prize for '' Rites of Passage'', the first novel in what became his sea trilogy, '' To the Ends of the Earth''.
