Monique Sullivan
Monique Sullivan (born 21 February 1989) is a Canadian cyclist. She was born in Calgary, Alberta. She competed in keirin at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where she placed sixth. She also competed in women's sprint and placed 11th. Career She won a bronze medal at the 2007 Track Cycling World Junior Championships in the Keirin event. In 2009, she had top-10 finishes at World Cup event in Beijing (sprint) and Manchester (keirin). She won the National Championship in the sprint event in 2010 and won bronze in the 500m. That year, she'd also capture silver at the Pan American Championships in Mexico City, Mexico and finished in fourth place in the 500m and sprint events. In 2011, Sullivan had top-10 finishes in the sprint and keirin events at the World Cup in Cali, Colombia. Lyubov Valeriyivna Basova, née Shulika ( uk, Любов Валеріївна Басова (Шуліка); born 16 July 1988), is a Ukrainian track cyclist. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the Women's team sprint for the national team, along with the individual sprint and the keirin. At the 2016 Olympics, she was the only Ukrainian track cyclist, qualifying for the women's keirin. Kate O'Brien (cyclist)
Kate O'Brien (born 23 July 1988 in Calgary) is a Canadian female track cyclist and former bobsledder. She won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Career After being introduced to bobsleigh in 2010, O’Brien competed at the 2013 FIBT World Championships with pilot Jenny Ciochetti, but a torn hamstring took her out of the first half of the Olympic season and she missed qualifying as a bobsleigh brakeman for the 2014 Winter Olympics. She decided to try piloting a bobsled and attended driving school in Calgary in March 2014. At the same time, there was a testing camp for Cycling Canada at the Canadian Sport Institute. Having scored good test results, she was competing internationally within months. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC; french: Comité olympique canadien) is a private, non-profit organization that represents Canada at the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Canada competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to August 21, 2016. Since the nation's debut in 1900, Canadian athletes had appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of the country's support for the United States-led boycott. The chef de mission was Curt Harnett, appointed in April 2016 after Jean-Luc Brassard, the original chef de mission, resigned his position. Tara Whitten
Tara Alice Whitten (born 13 July 1980) is a Canadian former racing cyclist. Career A former cross-country skier from Edmonton, Alberta, Whitten began track racing seriously in 2008 having dabbled in it since 2005. The same year she won the points race and individual pursuit at the Canadian National Track Championships, and also took the bronze medal in the scratch race and 500 meter time trial events. Whitten began the 2008–2009 track cycling season strongly, winning two silver medals at first round of the Track World Cup in Manchester, United Kingdom, in October. She went on to take two bronze medals in the third round in Cali, Colombia, and a further two silver medals in the fifth and final round in Copenhagen, Denmark, in February 2009.
