Monica P. Wallace
Monica Piga Wallace is an attorney and politician from New York State, elected to the New York State Assembly from the 143rd assembly district. The district comprises the entirety of the towns of Cheektowaga and Lancaster. She is a Democrat. Wallace was elected in 2016, defeated Republican opponent Russell Sugg 54–45 percent to succeed Angela Wozniak who did not seek re-election. Originally from Long Island, Wallace attended SUNY Binghamton as an undergraduate and later received a J.D. from SUNY Buffalo Law School. She served as a clerk to Judge Richard Arcara and taught as a legal writing professor at SUNY Buffalo Law School. She also practiced law as an attorney for Phillips Lytle LLP. Angela Wozniak (born March 11, 1987) is a former member of the New York State Assembly, serving from 2015 to 2016. She represented the 143rd district, which included Cheektowaga, Lancaster, and Depew, New York. A registered Conservative, Wozniak caucused with the Republican minority in the Assembly. In March 2016, Wozniak was admonished by the Assembly Ethics Committee for having retaliated against a staffer with whom she had engaged in a sexual relationship, in violation of the Assembly's Policy Prohibiting Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation. In May 2016, Wozniak announced that she would not seek reelection to the Assembly. Richard Joseph Arcara (born June 6, 1940) is a Senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. Early life and education Born in Buffalo, New York, Arcara graduated from Canisius High School in 1958, received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Bonaventure University in 1962, and received a Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law in 1965.
