''Moneyball'' is a 2011 American biographical sports drama film. It was directed by Bennett Miller and adapted by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin from the 2003 book, '' Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game'' by Michael Lewis. It stars Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright and Chris Pratt. The book is an account of the Oakland Athletics baseball team's 2002 season and their general manager Billy Beane's attempts to assemble a competitive team with half (or even a third) as much money as his rivals. In the film, Beane (Pitt) and his deputy Peter Brand (Hill) scout the major leagues for undervalued talent by taking a sophisticated sabermetric approach to scouting and analyzing players, triggering skepticism and resentment within the baseball community. ''Moneyball'' is the third studio album by American country band Dutch Interior. It was released on March 21, 2025, by Fat Possum Records, succeeding the band's 2021 debut, ''Kindergarten'' and 2023 album, ''Blinded By Fame''. Background Recorded in Long Beach, California, in the band's studio, ''Moneyball'' consists of ten songs ranging between three to five minutes each. It was produced by Conner Reeves and mixed by American record producer and audio engineer Phil Ek. The album, focusing on hope and friendship as its theme and incorporating various instruments including guitar, banjo, piano, and synthesizer, featured vocal contributions by five of the six members of Dutch Interior, who were also involved in the songwriting. ''Moneyball'' is a British game show that aired on ITV1 from 30 October 2021 to 26 August 2023 and is hosted by Ian Wright. Background The primetime game show was commissioned in February 2021 with football pundit and former player Ian Wright as host. On 3 October 2023, it was announced that the show was axed after two series along with '' Sitting on a Fortune'', hosted by Gary Lineker. Format One contestant plays at a time, answering up to six questions and accumulating a bank of up to £250,000. The centrepiece of the stage is a large screen framed by a U-shaped track. The screen is divided vertically into several zones based on the phase of the game. Sabermetrics (originally SABRmetrics) is the original or blanket term for sports analytics in the US, the empirical analysis of baseball, especially the development of advanced metrics based on baseball statistics that measure in-game activity. The term is derived from the movement's progenitors, members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), founded in 1971, and was coined by Bill James, (in 1980, according to SABR.org), who is one of its pioneers and considered its most prominent advocate and public face.
