"Money Changes Everything" is a song by American rock music, rock band the Brains from their The Brains (album), eponymous debut studio album (1980). Originally released in 1978, the song was reissued as the lead single from the album in 1980, by Mercury Records. Frontman Tom Gray is credited as the sole writer of the song, while production was collectively helmed by the Brains and Bruce Baxter. The song was popularized in 1984 by Cyndi Lauper, who released a cover version of the song as a single from her debut studio album, ''She's So Unusual'' (1983). Background The original single was released in 1978 by the Brains as a 45 rpm single on Gray Matter Records. The B side of the single was a song called "Quick with Your Lip". The initial underground success of the song led to the Brains being signed by Mercury Records. The Brains
The Brains were an American rock music, rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, led by songwriter Tom Gray in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their 1980 debut album was entitled ''The Brains'', and was produced by Steve Lillywhite for Mercury Records. The album included "Money Changes Everything", originally released by the band in 1978, which became a hit single for Cyndi Lauper when she covered it in 1983. After a second Mercury recording in 1981, ''Electronic Eden'' (also produced by Lillywhite) and then an independently released EP, ''Dancing Under Streetlights'', the band split up. Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of music that emerged in late 1977 in the wake of punk rock. The Body Acoustic
''The Body Acoustic'' is the ninth studio album released by American singer Cyndi Lauper in 2005. It consists of ten previously released songs which have been re-recorded and re-arranged acoustically, as well as two new songs. The album title is a play on Walt Whitman's poem ''I Sing the Body Electric'', with the word ''body'' in this case referring to Lauper's body of work as a recording artist. The album features a number of guest artists, including Adam Lazzara, Shaggy, Sarah McLachlan, Jeff Beck, Vivian Green, Ani DiFranco, and Puffy AmiYumi. A DualDisc edition of the album was released which contained the entire album in enhanced stereo, four new videos directed by Lauper herself as well as a behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of the album. Taking Back Sunday
Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band from Amityville, New York, formed by guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey in late 1999. The band's current members are Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), John Nolan (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Shaun Cooper (bass guitar), accompanied by Nathan Cogan (guitar) for their live performances. The band's former members include Lacey, Reyes, drummer Mark O'Connell, bassist Matthew Rubano, and guitarist-vocalists Fred Mascherino and Matthew Fazzi. Lacey quit Taking Back Sunday in 1999 and in 2000 formed the rock band Brand New, with whom Taking Back Sunday would become embroiled in a highly publicized feud. Adam Lazzara is an American musician. He is the lead vocalist of the rock band Taking Back Sunday. Along with singing lead vocals, Lazzara plays guitar and occasionally the harmonica. Taking Back Sunday Joining the band Adam Lazzara initially met the members of Taking Back Sunday at a show in Greensboro, North Carolina. At the performance, Phil Hanratty of the band Errortype:11 was filling in for Taking Back Sunday’s bassist. Melodica
The melodica is a handheld free-reed instrument similar to a pump organ or harmonica. It features a musical keyboard on top, and is played by blowing air through a mouthpiece that fits into a hole in the side of the instrument. The keyboard usually covers two or three octaves. The Hooters
The Hooters is an American rock music, rock band, which was founded in Philadelphia in 1980. They combine elements of rock, reggae, ska, and folk music. Rob Hyman
Robert Andrew Hyman (born April 24, 1950) is an American singer, songwriter, keyboard and accordion player, producer, and arranger, best known for being a founding member of the rock band the Hooters. Early life Hyman started taking piano lessons at the age of four and grew up playing in local bands in Meriden, Connecticut, including The Trolls and the Pro-Teens. While attending the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, Hyman met future bandmate and composing partner Eric Bazilian and producer Rick Chertoff. In the late 1960s, Hyman and Chertoff, along with local singer David Kagan formed a band called Wax, who recorded an album in the early 1970s. "When You Were Mine" is a song written and released by Prince on his 1980 album, '' Dirty Mind''. Though not released as a single, the song received a promotional 12" release (which included "Gotta Broken Heart Again" and " Uptown"). "All Through the Night" is a song written and recorded by Jules Shear for his 1983 album '' Watch Dog''. It was produced by Todd Rundgren. Elliot Easton of American rock band the Cars helped produce an early version of the song. It was covered by the Cars, who did not use it on any of their albums, and by Cyndi Lauper, who included it on her debut album ''She's So Unusual'' (1983). Lauper's version peaked at number five on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, becoming her fourth top five single in the US. Rick Chertoff
Richard E. Chertoff (born March 29, 1950) is an American record producer and songwriter. He is credited on the singles Joan Osborne's " One of Us", Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and " Time After Time" and Sophie B. Hawkins' " Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover". Chertoff has received five Grammy Award nominations—twice for Album of the Year, twice for Record of the Year, and also for Producer of the Year.
