Momentum (TobyMac Album)
''Momentum'' is the debut solo studio album from American recording artist TobyMac. It was released on November 6, 2001, through ForeFront Records. The album was well received and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Gospel Album in 2003. It contains a message of tolerance and diversity in society. Musically it has an urban pop sound which ''HM Magazine'' described as containing shadows of early DC Talk material. In 2003, '' Re:Mix Momentum'' was released. Background In the later months of 2000, DC Talk, announced plans to take a hiatus. In November an album, '' Intermission: The Greatest Hits'', was released to commemorate the break. Following this, an extended play titled ''Solo was'' released on April 24, 2001, implying that solo careers were impending. Kevin Michael McKeehan (born October 22, 1964), better known by his stage name TobyMac (styled tobyMac), is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His road band is known as Diverse City. Widely regarded as one of the most influential Christian artists of all time, he was as a member of the Christian hip-hop, Christian rap-Christian rock, rock trio DC Talk, staying with them from 1987 until they went on hiatus in 2000. Rockwell (musician)
Kennedy William Gordy (born March 15, 1964), known professionally as Rockwell, is an American singer and songwriter. He is best known for his hit single "Somebody's Watching Me", which features Michael Jackson on chorus vocals. Gordy is the son of Motown founder Berry Gordy. Other relatives include half-siblings Redfoo, Rhonda Ross Kendrick and half-nephew Sky Blu (rapper), Sky Blu. Michael William Masser (March 24, 1941 – July 9, 2015) was an American songwriter, composer and producer of popular music. Early life Born to a Jewish family in Chicago to Ester Huff and William Masser, he attended the University of Illinois College of Law. He became a stockbroker, but left to pursue his interest in music. Career Masser's first major composition hit, co-written with Ron Miller, was " Touch Me in the Morning", recorded by Diana Ross. Gerry Goffin
Gerald Goffin (February 11, 1939 – June 19, 2014) was an American lyricist. Collaborating initially with his first wife, Carole King, he co-wrote many international pop hits of the early and mid-1960s, including the US No.1 hits " Will You Love Me Tomorrow", " Take Good Care of My Baby", " The Loco-Motion", and " Go Away Little Girl". It was later said of Goffin that his gift was "to find words that expressed what many young people were feeling but were unable to articulate." After he and King divorced, Goffin wrote with other composers, including Barry Goldberg and Michael Masser, with whom he wrote " Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)" and " Saving All My Love for You", also No. 1 hits. Kevin Max Smith (born August 17, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter, and poet. He is best known for being a member of the Christian pop group dc Talk. As a solo artist following the band going on hiatus, he has recorded 12 full-length studio albums, including a Christmas album. Tait was an American Christian rock band formed by Michael Tait, one of the members of dc Talk and the lead singer of Newsboys from 2009 to 2025. History Pre-formation of Tait (1996–1999) In 1996, dc Talk member Michael Tait met Chad Chapin and the two became close friends and began to write songs together. After a few years, Michael created his own cover band, a funky hard rock group named ''Curious George''. He toured with Chapin and had a few concerts, performing music from Pearl Jam to King's X and The 77s.
