Moline ( ) is a city in Rock Island County, Illinois, United States. With a population of 42,985 in the 2020 census, it is the largest city in Rock Island County and the List of municipalities in Illinois, ninth-most populous in Illinois outside the Chicago metropolitan area. Moline is one of the Quad Cities at the confluence of the Rock River (Mississippi River tributary), Rock and Mississippi River, Mississippi rivers, along with neighboring East Moline, Illinois, East Moline and Rock Island, Illinois, Rock Island in Illinois and the cities of Davenport, Iowa, Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, Bettendorf in Iowa. His play ''La Réunion du six août'' was one of the longest-running patriotic pieces during the time of the French Revolution with 52 performances at the Paris Opéra. He also wrote the epitaph for the tomb of Jean-Paul Marat. However, he is best remembered today for having adapted Calzabigi's libretto for Gluck's ''Orphée et Euridice'' (a reworked version of his '' Orfeo ed Euridice''). The Moline Plowboys was a primary name of the minor league baseball teams based in Moline, Illinois, one of the Quad Cities. Quad Cities Multimodal Station is a station building in Moline, Illinois, intended to serve as the terminus of the proposed ''Quad Cities'' Amtrak route. Renovations and expansion of a historic former warehouse were completed in 2018 to serve this purpose, but as of 2025, the new rail line has not been established and no train service currently operates at the station. The Moline Plow Company was an American manufacturer of plough, plows and other list of agricultural machinery, farm implements, headquartered in Moline, Illinois, USA. Moline Plow was formed in the 1870s when the firm of Candee & Swan, a competitor of John Deere, Deere and Company (also of Moline), won a lawsuit against Deere allowing it to use the "Moline Plow" name.. The Moline Automobile Company, (1904 – 1924) was an American brass era automobile manufacturer in East Moline, Illinois known for the Moline, Dreadnought Moline, Moline-Knight and R & V Knight marques. Robert Moline
Robert William Haines Moline (20 October 18898 August 1979) was an Anglican bishop. Moline was born at Sudbury, Suffolk (where his father was Rector) and educated at The King's School, Canterbury and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Decorated for World War I service with the Rifle Brigade, he was made deacon on Trinity Sunday 1920 (30 May) and ordained priest the following Trinity Sunday (22 May 1921), both times by Arthur Winnington-Ingram, Bishop of London, at St Paul's Cathedral. He began his ministry with a curacy at St Matthew's, Bethnal Green after which he joined the Brotherhood of St Barnabas in North Queensland. He was its Warden from 1925 to 1927 and was the Archdeacon of the area until 1929. Returning to England he was Rector of North Cadbury then of Poplar.
