Mokwa
Mokwa is a Local Government Area in Niger State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Mokwa on the A1 highway in the west of the area. Mokwa is a town in Niger state with an estimated population of 416,600 (2022). The long southern border of the LGA is formed by the Niger River from Lake Jebba in the west beyond the confluence of the Kaduna River in the east. Kwara State and Kogi State are across the Niger from the LGA. The A1 highway crosses the Niger at Gana to Jebba in Kwara State. 2025 Mokwa Flood
On May 28, 2025, flooding caused by heavy rainfall submerged the market town of Mokwa in Niger State, Nigeria, causing severe damage. Officials said that the floods killed at least 206 people and confirmed that 1,000 were missing. At least 121 others were injured and the flooding destroyed over 400 homes. Niger River

Kaduna River

Nupe People
The Nupe (traditionally called the ''Nufawa'' by the Hausa people, Hausas and ''Tapa'' by the neighbouring Yoruba people, Yoruba) are an ethnic group native to North Central Nigeria. Jebba
Jebba town is a Yoruba city in Kwara State, Nigeria. It has views of River Niger, and as of 2007 has an estimated population of 22,411. Northernmost territory of the Yoruba culture is terminated by a landscape feature at Niger River near Jebba.
