Mojo Motau
Lieutenant General Mojo Motau is a retired South African Army general who served as Chief of Defence Intelligence from 19982009. General Maomela Moreti Motau joined the ranks of Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1974. He participated in the Struggle in various capacities and rose to serve in the military's high command. He was the last Chief of Military Intelligence of MK. He held this position until integration of forces after the negotiations. He participated in the military negotiations as part of the national negotiations that ushered in democratic change in South Africa. Motau headed the Military Strategy Group of MK and was responsible for military negotiations at the Trade Centre in Kempton Park, which drafted the defence chapter of the Transitional Constitution of 1993. Lieutenant General
Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal. A lieutenant general commands an army corps, made up of typically three army divisions, and consisting of around 60 000 to 70 000 soldiers (U.S.). South African National Defence Force
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) comprises the armed forces of South Africa. The commander of the SANDF is appointed by the President of South Africa from one of the armed services. They are in turn accountable to the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans of the Defence Department. The military as it exists today was created in 1994, following South Africa's first nonracial election in April of that year and the adoption of a new constitution. Abel Shilubane
Lieutenant General Abel Shilubane (born 1952), is a retired South African Army general who served as Chief of Defence Intelligence from 2010 to 2012. Military career He served in the uMkhonto we Sizwe in exile and after the 1994 elections, he served in the SANDF. Refiloe Johannes Mudimu
Vice Admiral Refiloe Mudimu is a former South African military commander, who served as the Chief of the Navy before his retirement in 2014. Early life Johannes Mudimu was born on 6 March 1954, in Sophiatown. He became a member of the African National Congress and Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK) in 1975. Early career Mudimu received his military training in Angola, East Germany and the then USSR. He successfully completed the commander's course in 1977. He then served as an instructor in MK camps until 1979 when he was deployed as Chief of Logistics in Luanda, Angola. Mudimu later served in ANC Headquarters in Lusaka, Zambia as the co-ordinator of the ANC Youth Radio Programs as well as a member of the editorial board of the Youth Publications. Popo Molefe
Popo Simon Molefe (born 26 April 1952 in Sophiatown, Johannesburg) is a businessman and former politician from South Africa. Early life One of eight children, Molefe was the son of a laborer and a domestic worker, though he was raised largely by one of his aunts, Sanah Tsatsimpe. He attended Naledi High School in Soweto. He became involved in political activism as a student, joining the Black People's Convention in 1973, and the South African Students' Movement in 1974. While a member of the latter organization, he participated in the Soweto Uprising of 1976. Molefe is a member of the Methodist Church of South Africa. The South African Army is the principal land warfare force of South Africa, a part of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), along with the South African Air Force, South African Navy and South African Military Health Service.
