Mojca Osojnik
Mojca Osojnik (born 29 June 1970) is a Slovene painter and illustrator, best known for her children's books illustrations. Osojnik was born in Kranj in 1970. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 1997 and obtained her Master's degree in 2001. From 2001 to 2003 she lived and worked in Los Alamos. She has participated at numerous art exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad. She also works as a children's book illustrator, some of which she has also written herself. In 2003 she won the Levstik Award for her book ''Hiša, ki bi rada imela sonce'' (The House That Wanted to Be in the Sun). Kranj
Kranj (, german: Krainburg) is the third-largest city in Slovenia, with a population of 37,941 (2020). It is located approximately northwest of Ljubljana. The centre of the City Municipality of Kranj and of the traditional region of Upper Carniola (northwestern Slovenia) is a mainly industrial city with significant electronics and rubber industries. Geography The nucleus of the city is a well-preserved medieval old town, built at the confluence of the Kokra and Sava rivers. Vinko Möderndorfer
Vinko Möderndorfer (born 22 September 1958) is a Slovene writer, poet, playwright and theatre and film director. Möderndorfer was born in Celje in 1958. He studied at the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana and worked in numerous theatre companies around Slovenia. He started writing poetry in the late 1970s and since the early 1980s also published numerous works of prose, essays and drama as well as poetry and stories for children. In 2000 he won the Prešeren Foundation Award for his book of short stories . Levstik Award Laureates
Fran Levstik (28 September 1831 – 16 November 1887) was a Slovene writer, political activist, playwright and critic. He was one of the most prominent exponents of the Young Slovene political movement. Life and work Levstik was born in 1831 in Dolnje Retje (now part of the municipality of Velike Lašče) in Lower Carniola (then part of the Austrian Empire, today in Slovenia) in a peasant Slovene family. Levstik was the first notable writer of Slovene epic prose. Among his most known works are the short tale '' Martin Krpan From Vrh'' ( sl, Martin Krpan z Vrha), which became a classic work of Slovene literature, and the itinerary ''A Journey from Litija to Čatež'' (), the main objective of which is a literary manifesto. Miha Mazzini
Miha Mazzini (born 3 June 1961 in Jesenice, Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian writer, screenwriter and film director with thirty published books, translated in ten languages. He has a PhD in anthropology from the Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis and has MA in Creative Writing for Film and Television at The University of Sheffield. He is a Voting member of the European Film Academy. Biography He described his childhood living with his mother and grandmother in Titoist Yugoslavia, in two novels. The protagonist of the 2002 novel ''King of the Rattling Spirits'' (based on his 2001 ''Sweet Dreams'' film script) is 12 years old and in the 2015 novel ''Childhood'' the protagonist is five. His first novel ''Crumbs'' (American title ''The Cartier Project'') was set in his hometown of Jesenice and published in 1989 and sold 54,000 copies.
