''Mo'in Encyclopedic Dictionary '' ( fa, فرهنگ معین ''Farhang-e Mo'īn'') is the second largest Persian language encyclopedic dictionary. It was collected and integrated by Mohammad Mo'in. History The ''Mo'in Encyclopedic Dictionary'' was collected during a 19-year period (1947-1966) under the administration of Mohammad Mo'in. After his death in 1971, the dictionary has been completed by Ja'far Shahidi. Finally, it was published in 1972 by Amirkabir publications in Tehran, Iran Iran, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, and also called Persia, is a country located in Western Asia. It is bordered by Iraq and Turkey to the west, by Azerbaijan and Armenia to the northwest, by the Caspian Sea and Turkm ..., in six volumes – four volumes for Persian words and expressions, and two volumes for proper nouns. Encyclopedic Dictionary
An encyclopedic dictionary typically includes many short listings, arranged alphabetically, and discussing a wide range of topics. Encyclopedic dictionaries can be general, containing articles on topics in many different fields; or they can specialize in a particular field, such as art, biography, law, medicine, or philosophy. They may also be organized around a particular academic, cultural, ethnic, or national perspective. Mohammad Moin ( fa, , his surname could also be transliterated as Mo'in) (July 12, 1914, Rasht, Iran – July 4, 1971, Tehran, Iran)Date of birth July 12, 1914, is according to Professor Mo'in's own notes. However, some sources indicate April 29, 1918, as the date of birth. The latter date seems somewhat unlikely, since it would imply that he should have obtained his BA at the age of approximately sixteen, requiring his entrance to university at approximately twelve or perhaps fourteen, depending on the duration of the BA course. Increasing these values by four leads to reasonable ages, leading one to consider July 12, 1914, as the correct date of birth. was a prominent Iranian scholar of Persian literature and Iranian Studies. Amir Kabir Publishers ( fa, انتشارات امیرکبیر; also romanized as ''Amir-Kabir'') is a publishing house based in Tehran, Iran and founded on November 19, 1949, by Abdorrahim "Taghi" Jafari.
