Mohd Nizam Jaffar
Mohd Nizam bin Jaffar (born 3 August 1966) is a Malaysian military officer who has served as the 23rd Chief of Defence Forces (Malaysia), Chief of Defence Forces since January 2025. Early life and education Mohd Nizam bin Jaffar was born on 3 August 1966 in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. He received his early education at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He also successfully completed his professional military education at the National Resilience College (MKN), National Defense Studies Center (PUSPAHANAS), Putrajaya in 2020 where he successfully won The National Resilience College (NRC) Award by the NRC Directing Staff Council. He has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nottingham and was awarded as a Fellow Scholar of the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM). The Malay language has a complex system of Style (manner of address), styles, titles and honorifics which are used extensively in Brunei, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Singapore. Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, few provinces in the Philippines and several provinces in Indonesia regularly award honorary and life titles. What follows in this article is specific to the Malaysian system. References to Brunei and Indonesia are given when pertinent. The Most Esteemed Order of the Defender of the Realm () is a Malaysian federal award presented for meritorious service to the country.
