City Council Of Tehran
The Islamic City Council of Tehran () is the directly elected council that presides over the city of Tehran, elects the mayor of Tehran in a mayor–council government system, and budgets of the Municipality of Tehran. The council is composed of twenty one members elected on a plurality-at-large voting basis for four-year terms. The chairman and the deputy chairman of the council are chosen by the council at the first regular meeting in odd-numbered years. It holds regular meetings on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 am (except on holidays or if decided by special resolution not to meet). Islamic Iran Solidarity Party (; ''Hezb-e Hambastegi-e Iran-e Eslami'') is an Iranian reformist political party founded in 1998, by 10 members of Parliament of Iran. The Fars News Agency is a news agency in Iran managed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), one of the three branches of the Islamic Republic of Iran Armed Forces. While it describes itself as "Iran's leading independent news agency", it is widely described by Western news media to be a "semi-official" news agency of the Government of Iran. Mostafa Kavakebian (; born 18 March 1963) is an Iranian reformist politician who was the representative of Tehran in the Parliament of Iran, from 2016 to 2020. He has formerly represented Semnan and Mehdishahr in the parliament from 2008 until 2012. He registered for president of Iran in the 2024 presidential election but was rejected by the Guardian Council. Early life Kavakebian was born in Semnan on 18 March 1963.
