Modern Outsider
Modern Outsider is a management company and independent record label founded by husband and wife team, Chip and Erin Adams, in October 2010 in Austin, Texas. Collectively, they have well over two decades of experience in various facets of the music industry, from radio promotion at Dangerbird Records, Capitol Records, The Syndicate and Cornerstone (agency) where they also handled digital marketing; they were in charge of editorial at the tastemaking site, TheTripwire.com. Their mission is simple: discover and release great music while building a tight-knit community for their artists. In January 2016 the label was featured in ''Austin Monthly''. Dana Falconberry
Dana Falconberry is an American songwriter and musician originally from Dearborn, Michigan later based in Austin, Texas. She is known for her songwriting that focuses on themes of nature and wildlife. Since 2011, she has mostly played (both live and on record) backed by her five-piece band composed of Christopher Cox, Gina Dvorak, Karla Manzur, Matthew Shepherd, and Lindsey Verrill. History Originally interested in pursuing dance and choreography, Falconberry attended Hendrix College in Arkansas where she learned to play guitar and write songs. She moved to Austin in 2004 to turn her focus towards music. While in Austin, she fostered a career as a singer-songwriter, recording three albums, and touring the US, Portugal, Japan, the UK, and France. She also spent time as a singer in the folk band Peter and the Wolf. Walker Lukens is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist based in Austin, Texas. His music blends elements of pop, rock, blues, soul and electronic music. Walker Lukens has been called ‘one of the best songwriters in Texas’. He has been called ‘wonderfully inventive’, a ‘non-sexually intimidating version of Prince’, and a ‘veteran balladeer with sudden indie rock ambitions’. People often mistake Walker's name for Walter. Tristen (born Tristen Gaspadarek, November 23, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She has released five albums: ''Teardrops and Lollipops'' (2008), '' Charlatans at the Garden Gate'' (2011), ''C A V E S'' (2013), ''Sneaker Waves'' (2017), and ''Aquatic Flowers'' (2021). She also performed as a member of Jenny Lewis's live band in 2015. Quiet Company is an American rock band from Austin, Texas, fronted by Taylor Muse. Moving Panoramas
Moving Panoramas are an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas. They are signed to Modern Outsider and have released two albums on the label. Moving Panoramas founder, guitarist, and frontwoman Leslie Sisson has worked as a crew member for Vampire Weekend. She formed the band in the wake of personal trauma. In 2011, Sisson and her boyfriend were abducted at gunpoint from her house by a man who had broken in. The assailant forced the couple to take PCP while he robbed them. She subsequently learned that her kidnapper had also killed a man and his teenage daughter. Following the incident Sisson has reported experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety. This was complicated by other events, such as another friend being murdered and a former roommate threatening her life.
