Mocònesi
Moconesi () is a municipality (comune) in the Metropolitan City of Genoa in the Italian region Liguria. The head-hamlet of Moconesi municipality is the village of Ferrada which is located about northeast of Genoa and from the house in Terrarossa, reportedly place of birth of Christopher Columbus. ''Moconesi'' would mean "casa di Mocco", the name of an ancient Roman legate found in the bronze tablet of Polcevera, an archeological finding of 1506 recording a sentence of the Roman Senate of 111 BC. This sentence concerned a territorial dispute of families in the Polcevera Valley of Northern Genoa). The actual territories of Ferrada di Moconesi and vicinities were the property of the family Fieschi of Lavagna, before they became property of the Republic of Genoa in 1147. Moconesi was later included in the Captainship of Rapallo and within the French administration during Napoleon Bonaparte occupation of Northern Italy. Torriglia
Torriglia () is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Genoa in the Italian region Liguria, located in the upper Trebbia valley, about northeast of Genoa. Torriglia borders the following municipalities: Davagna, Lorsica, Lumarzo, Mocònesi, Montebruno, Montoggio, Neirone, Propata, Rondanina, Valbrevenna. History The town was probably founded in Roman times. In the Middle Ages it was a possession of the Bobbio Abbey, and then (1227) of the Malaspina and (mid-14th century) of the Fieschi, who built a castle here. Later it was under the Republic of Genoa, and Torriglia was involved in the wars between Guelphs and Ghibellines, causing its siege by the Genoese in 1432. In 1548 it was acquired by the Doria family, who held it until the Napoleonic invasion of 1797. Rapallo
Rapallo ( , , ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Genoa, in the Italy, Italian region of Liguria. As of 2017 it had 29,778 inhabitants. It lies on the Ligurian Sea coast, on the Tigullio Gulf, between Portofino and Chiavari, 25 kilometers east-south east of Genoa itself. The Republic of Genoa ( ; ; ) was a medieval and early modern Maritime republics, maritime republic from the years 1099 to 1797 in Liguria on the northwestern Italy, Italian coast. Lavagna
Lavagna is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Genoa, in the Italian region of Liguria. History and culture The village, unlike nearby Chiavari which has pre-Ancient Rome, Roman evidence, seems to have developed in Ancient Rome, Roman times with the Latin name of ''Lavania''. The name has remained unchanged, over the centuries, until it became the current toponym of Lavagna in the following centuries. Since 1198 it was a fief of the Fieschi family, who used Lavagna as their stronghold in the numerous inner struggles of the Republic of Genoa. Fieschi
The House of Fieschi were an old Italian noble family from Genoa, Italy, from whom descend the Fieschi Ravaschieri Princes of Belmonte. Of ancient origin, they took their name from the progenitor ''Ugo Fliscus'', descendants of the counts of Lavagna. The family had close ties with the Angevin kings of Sicily. Later they also established links with French kings. The Fieschi family produced two popes and 72 cardinals.
