Mockingbird (film)
''Mockingbird'' is a 2014 American found footage horror film written and directed by Bryan Bertino, from a story by Bertino and Sam Esmail. The movie was released to video on demand on October 7, 2014, and was given a DVD and Blu-ray release on October 21 of the same year. It features Todd Stashwick, Alexandra Lydon, and Barak Hardley as three people that have been given video cameras with the instructions to film their daily activities for a strange contest. Plot The movie follows three groups of people, all of whom have found a video camera on their doorstep and begin filming with the impression that this is a chance to win money as part of a mysterious competition. Tom (Todd Stashwick) is an average guy filming the life of his family with his wife Emmy. Beth (Alexandra Lydon) is a bored and isolated college girl who sees the camera as something to fill her free time. Bryan Bertino
Bryan Michael Bertino (born October 17, 1977) is an American filmmaker. He is best known as the writer/director of '' The Strangers'' (2008), as well as writing its sequel, '' The Strangers: Prey at Night'' (2018), with Ben Ketai. Early life and education Bertino was born in Crowley, Texas. He studied cinematography at the University of Texas at Austin. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a gaffer, and wrote screenplays in his spare time. Career Bertino submitted '' The Strangers'' for a Nicholl Fellowship with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which reached the quarterfinals. However, he was able to get a meeting with Vertigo Entertainment. Bertino quit his job days before the script was sold to Universal Studios. Mark Romanek wanted to direct ''The Strangers'' but demanded a $40 million budget. The company expanded into other media including podcast networking, entertainment, and streaming media. ''The Strangers'' is a 2008 American psychological horror film written and directed by Bryan Bertino. The film follows a couple (portrayed by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) whose stay at a vacation home is disrupted by three masked intruders (portrayed by Kip Weeks, Gemma Ward, and Laura Margolis) who infiltrate the home one night. It is the first installment in The Strangers (film series), ''The Strangers'' film series. The screenplay was inspired by two real-life events: the multiple-homicide Manson family Tate murders and a series of Burglary, break-ins that occurred in Bertino's neighborhood as a child.
