Mocedades
Mocedades () is a Spanish singing group from the Basque Country, who represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973 with the hit song "Eres tú". Since June 2014, ''Mocedades'' has been the name of two bands: one with Izaskun Uranga as its leader and the other with Javier Garay. A third group, El Consorcio, is composed of former Mocedades members who left the group but have continued a career together outside the Mocedades brand. Group formation In 1967, in the Basque city of Bilbao, three young sisters, Amaya, Izaskun and Estíbaliz Uranga, formed a vocal trio named ''Las Hermanas Uranga'' (''The Uranga Sisters''). They sang at various venues in Bilbao. During their rehearsals, their brothers and friends joined. Eres Tú
"Eres tú" (; "It's You") is a song recorded by Spanish band Mocedades, written by Juan Carlos Calderón. It in the Eurovision Song Contest 1973 held in Luxembourg placing second which was followed by a global success. It is one of the few musical acts from Spain to have scored a top ten hit in the United States, being the only one sung entirely in Spanish. In 2005, it was one of fourteen songs chosen to compete in '' Congratulations: 50 Years of the Eurovision Song Contest'' placing eleventh. In 2013, it was inducted into the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame. Amaya Uranga
Amaya Uranga Amezaga (born 18 February 1947) is a Spanish singer from Bilbao, best known for the 15 years she spent as a member of the Basque folk/pop sextet Mocedades. She is a cousin of director Pablo Berger. Biography Uranga formed Mocedades in 1969 with eight members. After numerous group changes, Uranga together with her sister Izaskun, her brother Roberto, and three other male members became the so-called "historic six" members of Mocedades who came second in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Eres Tú", and the band subsequently launched a hugely successful music career in Spain and Latin America. She was lead singer on many of Mocedades' most successful songs, such as the international smash hit "Eres Tú" and "Tómame o Déjame." Solo career Uranga left Mocedades in 1984 to pursue a solo career, although she failed to surpass her success in Mocedades. In the mid-1990s, Uranga joined a new band called El Consorcio. Izaskun Uranga
Izaskun Uranga Amézaga (born 17 April 1950) is a Spanish musician, who with her two sisters Estibaliz Uranga and Amaya Uranga formed the group "Las Hermanas Urangas", which became "Voces y Guitarras" and, in 1969, the well-known Spanish folk group Mocedades Mocedades () is a Spanish singing group from the Basque Country, who represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973 with the hit song "Eres tú". Estíbaliz Uranga
Estíbaliz Uranga Amézaga (9 December 1952 in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain) is a Spanish singer, best known as a member of the folk group Mocedades, as part of the duo Sergio y Estíbaliz and nowadays as a member of the group El Consorcio. In the late 1960s, she initially teamed up with her two sisters Amaya and Izaskun to form ''Las hermanas Uranga'' ("The Uranga sisters"), which developed with the inclusion of further siblings and friends into the group ''Voces y Guitarras'' ("Voices and Guitars"). By 1969, they were discovered by producer Juan Carlos Calderón, who took them on and renamed them to ''Mocedades'' ("Youth"). Eurovision Song Contest 1973
The Eurovision Song Contest 1973 was the 18th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, following the country's victory at the with the song " Après toi" by Vicky Leandros. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (CLT), the contest was held at the on 7 April 1973 and was hosted by German television presenter Helga Guitton. Seventeen countries took part in the contest this year, with and deciding not to participate, and competing for the first time. In a back-to-back victory, won the contest again with the song "" by Anne-Marie David.
