Moaner Van Heerden
Johannes Lodewikus 'Moaner' van Heerden (born 18 July 1951) is a former South African rugby union international player. He played as a lock. His son, Wikus van Heerden, is also a South African international who played for Saracens in the Guinness Premiership before retiring in 2012. Playing career Van Heerden made his debut in senior provincial rugby for Northern Transvaal in 1972. In 1974 he played his first test match for Springboks next to Johan de Bruyn, a fellow lock debutant, in the third test against the touring Lions team of Willie John McBride at the Boet Erasmus Stadium in Port Elizabeth.From 1974 to 1980, van Heerden appeared in 17 test matches and scored one try. He also played in six tour matches for the Springboks. "Moaner" is a song by Underworld, first appearing in 1997 on the ''Batman & Robin'' soundtrack. It was also commercially released as a single in Germany and Japan, with promo-only releases being made available in the UK and US. Sales of the imported German release were sufficient for a UK Singles Chart entry, peaking at #89. The 7:37 "long version" (which is actually shorter than the album version) was later added as the last track on the group's 1999 album '' Beaucoup Fish''. The song's bassline was ranked by ''Stylus Magazine'' at number 27 in their list of the "Top 50 Basslines of All Time". However, the same article mentions lyrics which are in fact the lyrics to the track "Push Upstairs". It might be this track that they are actually referring to. Hagfish (band)
Hagfish were an American rock band originated in Sherman, Texas that rose to notoriety via performances in the Deep Ellum district of Dallas, Texas, drawing influences from both punk rock and alternative rock. The lineup included lead vocalist George Stroud Reagan III, guitarist Zach Blair, bassist Doni Blair and drummer Tony Barsotti for the majority of the band's career, including nearly all of their recorded work. Formed by the Blair brothers in 1991, Hagfish emerged with contemporaries Tripping Daisy and Toadies as part of the 1990s Dallas/Fort Worth alternative rock scene and were also heavily influenced by the Descendents/ All, whose members recorded and produced two of the band's studio albums. After officially disbanding in 2001, Hagfish have reunited occasionally for live performances. The Moaners
The Moaners are a Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based indie rock band. They were previously signed to Yep Roc Records. In 2004, Melissa Swingle's band Trailer Bride broke up, and she formed The Moaners with drummer Laura King, formerly of the Chapel Hill band Grand National. The band is often compared to The White Stripes, as they are also a two-piece and employ a similar garage rock, bluesy style. The dark, southern gothic elements of Trailer Bride are also evident; however a major difference is that The Moaners have more an electric, punk rock style. The band's first album, ''Dark Snack'' was produced by Rick Miller of the band Southern Culture on the Skids.
