Mladenovac
Mladenovac ( sr-Cyrl, Младеновац, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. According to the 2024 census results, the municipality has a population of 56,389 inhabitants, while the urban area has 22,346 inhabitants. Name Its name stems from word 'youth' in Serbian. According to a legend, the emergence of the name is brought in connection with a man named Mladen, who established himself after the battle on the Kosovo in 1389 with his two brothers in this desert area. The brothers separated and the place, where Mladen had established himself, was called Mladenovac. History In the village of Kovačevac, from downtown Mladenovac, there is an archaeological locality Divičmeđ. It spreads on in the valley of the Veliki Lug river and contains remains from the prehistoric and medieval periods. Mladenovac And Smederevo Shootings
On the evening of 4 May 2023, a shooting spree occurred in the villages of Dubona and Malo Orašje, between Mladenovac and Smederevo, Serbia. Armed with an automatic assault rifle, the shooter opened fire from a car, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals, including an off-duty police officer, and leaving twelve others injured. The perpetrator, 20-year-old Uroš Blažić, fled the scene but was apprehended the next day near Kragujevac. Following the incident, Blažić's father, uncle, and first cousin were also taken into custody, facing charges related to criminal possession of a weapon. The uncle and first cousin were tried separately from the rest. First cousin was found guilty and sentenced to 18 months in prison, while uncle was acquitted. Monument On The Site Of The Death Of Despot Stefan Lazarević
The Monument to Despot Stefan Lazarević () is in the village of Crkvine by Mladenovac, Serbia, in the courtyard of the church of St. prophet Elijah. It is a marble monument with a medieval record of the death of Despot Stefan Lazarević. It was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979, and it is protected by the Republic of Serbia. The monument is a column of glazed white marble of height 186 cm, width 68 cm, and a thickness of 26 cm. The main inscription is written in calligraphic letters, on the monument's west side, below an engraved three-sided cross. The monument was erected by Lazarević's companion Đurađ Zubrović immediately after Lazarević's death in 1427. A translation of the monument's inscription: . Pavlovac Monastery
The Pavlovac Monastery ( sr-cyrl, Манастир Павловац, Manastir Pavlovac) is located in Kosmaj Mountain, in the village of Koraćica, Serbia. It was named after a nearby stream. It is assumed that it was reconstructed under the instruction of Stefan Lazarević, though the monastery was partially built in the 14th century and completed at the start of the 15th century. In 1690, Patriarch Arsenije III Crnojević performed a final liturgy prior to the Great Migrations of the Serbs to Hungary. The monks who did not leave their spiritual sanctuary were killed by the Ottoman invaders and the buildings in the monastery were set ablaze.
