Mkrtich Beshiktashlian
Mkrtich Beshiktashlian (; 18 August 182829 November 1868) was an Ottoman Armenian poet, playwright and educator from Constantinople. Considered one of the main representatives of the Romanticist movement in Armenian literature, his work was highly influential on later Armenian authors. Biography Mkrtich Beshiktashlian was born on 18 August 1828 in the Ortaköy neighborhood of Constantinople. His father, Raphael Beshiktashlian, was one of 12,000 Armenians deported to Constantinople from Anatolia in 1827. Mkrtich's parents and sisters died during his youth. He received his education at institutions run by the Mekhitarist Armenian Catholic order, first in Constantinople, then at the Muradian Gymnasium in Padua, Italy. Mıgırdiç Civanyan (, 1848 – February 14, 1906) was an Ottoman Armenian painter. Life Mıgırdiç Civanyan was born in the Beşiktaş district of Constantinople in 1848. In 1874, he met with famed Russian-Armenian painter Ivan Aivazovsky, whose work inspired Civanyan to incorporate much of the love for the sea into his own paintings. Already knowing Italian, Civanyan went to Italy in 1876 and remained there until 1879. Due to the Hamidian massacres of Armenians, Civanyan sought refuge in Odessa in the spring of 1894. Mıgırdiç Margosyan
Mıgırdiç Margosyan (23 December 1938 – 2 April 2022) was a Turkish-Armenian writer. Background Margosyan was born on 23 December 1938 in the Hançepek district of Diyarbakır, Turkey. He received his primary education at the Süleyman Nazif Elementary School and the Ziya Gökalp Middle School in Diyarbakır, and continued his secondary education at the Armenian community schools in Istanbul, attending Bezciyan Middle School and Getronagan Armenian High School. Margosyan received his college degree from the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University. Between 1966 and 1972, Margosyan worked as the school director of the Surp Haç Tıbrevank Armenian High School and also taught philosophy, psychology, Armenian language, and literature. Gourgen Mkrtich Yanikian
Gourgen Mkrtich Yanikian (, December 24, 1895 – February 27, 1984) was an Armenian genocide survivor. He is best known for the assassination of two Turkish consular officials, Consul General Mehmet Baydar and Consul Bahadır Demir. The event took place in Santa Barbara, California in 1973.. Sentenced to life imprisonment, Yanikian was released on parole in January 1984. It is widely believed that Yanikian's act was the inspiration for the founding of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, the Armenian militant organization of the 1970s and 1980s which staged attacks on Turkish diplomats in an effort to obtain recognition and reparations for the genocide from the government of Turkey.
